“good location, basic infrastructure.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

I choose this hotel mainly because our Sao Paulo office is one block away, and it saves tons of time early in the morning and in the evening. Property is OK, but basic. Rooms usually don't smell that nice, and in room split ACs are noisy. Heating is limited, so those cold night might be challenging for sleeping alone!

Wifi sucks, you can barely get email. Breakfast is nice, but there is always a long line for check out in the morning ... so early birds get out fast!

That said, Sao Paulo is a very expensive city, and is always fully booked. So I rather compromise quality with proximity.

Room Tip: Don't go that high on the floors .. elevators are not that fast and on rush hour you will have t...

This hotel was convenient to where I needed to be. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant food was pretty good for dinner, average for breakfast. There were 3 things that kept me from rating the hotel higher, and if fixed, would make this hotel the best choice for the location. The carpet was stained and filthy. I am OK if it isn't the latest style, but I don't think they have ever cleaned it. Second, the wifi was horrible, the worst of any hotel I have ever stayed at. Extremely slow, dropped connections. I could not even reliably retrieve my email. Forget Skype audio calls or streaming anything. My mobile speed was much faster. Finally, a hot pot or coffee maker is a "must". People traveling across timezones consider it a requirement. I have not stayed in a hotel without one in years. But I will probably stay again if O need to be in the WTC area.

The Qualit Berrini hotel has lots to offer but falls short on sme basic essentials.

Having arrived after a 10 hour flight I was politely advised check-in was not until 2pm and if I wanted an early check-in would have to pay additional! For some reason most South America hotels have a very late check-in which is somewhat inconvenient.

The rooms are a good size but the bathroom had a nasty smell!

Staff were very helpful but as only a couple spoke English this meant the conversation was at times longer than necessary.

Breakfast provided a variety of options from beautiful fresh fruit to a selection of breads/cakes or hot food. The big diappointment was the lack of ordinary breakfast tea. This was not available on day 2 or 3 at breakfast. For some reason they failed to re-stock on this essential which mant for those of us who don't drink herbal tea or coffee the only other option was milk or coffee!!!!

Not a bad hotel but could do better!

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter

Stayed for a week in a business trip, great hotel, the personnel were always helpful. Lot of restaurants and a shopping mall nearby. Some of the staff speaks english and spanish. The room was good and clean. During the first couple of days the internet was bad, but they fixed it and for the rest of the week it worked perfectly.
The restaurant is closed at noon, breakfast and dinner were really good.

Room Tip: I think being near a busy avenue, get your room above 5th floor.

This is a business hotel with mid-range service and amenities. The lobby is comfortable, and the included breakfast buffet is varied and tasty. I felt secure, and the service was pleasant.

The good: great location next door to the Sheraton WTC conference center - you can't beat the convenience if this location is near where you need to be. There's also a great restaurant / Bar next door (Deck 18) - we spent several evenings enjoying good food, drinks, and great service in their semi-outdoor location.

The bad: my guest room was worn out. There were many little problems, none of which were a big deal, but they all added up to a dissatisfying experience. All of the furniture and fixtures were seriously worn, with scratches and nicks on all the furniture. The shower head was broken, the carpet had a huge stain, and the whole room was not very clean. The beds are definitely not international class - they remind me of a college dorm room bed. Worst of all, the toilet wasn't clean - there was a lot of who-knows-what on the rim of the toilet.

The rooms don't come with an iron or an ironing board. You can ask for one, but you will only be allowed to keep it for one day unless you call to ask to keep it for another day. The hotel doesn't have any face cloths, so you have to wash with a medium size towel. The windows are quite thin so you will hear traffic and the loading-dock at the WTC, and if you go to bed early, you will hear the boisterous basketball players across the street (thankfully, they stop at 11pm).

All-in-all, it's probably worth it if you can get a very cheap price, and a room on a high floor. Some of my colleagues who were staying with me on this visit said their room wasn't as worn out as mine, so maybe there are better rooms.

If they could update the room, improve the service just a bit, and keep the rooms a lot cleaner, this would get a rating of "excellent"

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room as the windows are thin

The good: Near to the CENU and walking distance to the metro. There are a lot of restaurants near the hotel and a shopping mall. They have a small gym, but is okay. Breakfast is good. The room was clean and the connection to the internet was good. The staff is friendly and helpful. Some of the staff speak English and/or Spanish. The room use 110 Volts power U.S. type electricity connectors (no adapters required). Two gas stations with convenience stores near to the hotel. There are several shopping malls near to the hotel - need to take a taxi.

The bad: Air conditioning system was leaking water over the desk and sometimes the noise of the compressor was really loud. -- I notified the front desk and the leaking was resolved the same day. No supermarkets close to the hotel.

Pros: clean, good rooms, nice location if you need to close to SP WTC.
Cons: 1) although the air conditioning system is a split wall machine, the compressor is located inside the room (hidden behind a wooden structure near the ceiling) and the noise during the night is unbearable.
2) The reservation was made for 3 people and at the time of check-in the room had only one single bed. The person in the front desk told me that the reservation was made for only 1 person, but didn't know how to explain the fact the someone from the hotel called me 2 days before informing the difference to paid by the 2 other guests... Any way, this problem was quickly solved.
3) A taxi was order at the front desk and after a 15 min wait, no taxi showed up... No other measure to call a taxi was taken and I decided to take one by myself at the street.
Also, a 15min local telephone call (comprising 16 reais) that have never been made appeared in the final bill.
