“Poor Customer Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Word of caution: I booked 4 nights using 40,000 Choice Privileges points and the hotel was not familiar with rewards points as a form of payment. Initially, the hotel wanted to charge me a discounted nightly rate and I protested – the Choice website clearly states that reservations using points do not require any additional payment. What upsets me is that since I checked in on a Saturday I was asked to wait until Monday before anyone could make a firm decision regarding my reservation. I checked Monday night, and there were still no changes to my bill. It took two separate calls to Choice Hotels Headquarters (expensive and time consuming international calls), multiple requests at the front desk, and the intervention of a sales manager from Choice Hotels in the USA to finally resolve the issue. In the end everything was taken care of and my points were processed, but it took 4 nights for the situation to be resolved. Nobody apologized for the inconvenience and the hotel made me feel like I was at fault for making excessive demands! Very disappointed with how this was handled.

Otherwise, this is a decent choice. The location is fantastic and I felt very safe walking around at night. Service is generally friendly, although on the inefficient side. When I noticed after checking in that the safe in my room was broken it took two calls to the front desk and a total of 3 hours to finally have someone come up. This was inconvenient since I wanted to secure my belongings before I left for dinner. Internet was fast and reliable, breakfast was good enough, and housekeeping excellent. Some fixtures in the room – doorknobs, chairs, table, mirrors, etc – are really starting to show their age.

The hotel is the usual - great ensuite rooms with complete mini-kitchen and full list cable TV. Staff is extremely helpful. The good thing about it is its location, right in the middle of a busy nightlife district with countless bars, bistrots and nightclubs (about 50 % for alternative gender options). The restaurant selection ranges from typical Brazilian to very sophisticated fusion cuisine. At the same time, it is also a mere 4 blocks away from Av. Paulista - São Paulo's main business and banking region.

Room Tip: All rooms in the same class are equal - just try to stay awy from the elevator shaft - everything el...

Spacious rooms, service really good, for additional cost can accomodate more people in the same appartment. Breakfast was nice as well. Very secure not only hotel but surrounding area as well! Beds comfortable. Definitely recommended!

My wife and I stayed here on New Years Eve 2011 to see in the new year with 2 million others on Avenida de Paulista. It's a short walk to Sao Paulo's main street, our room was fantastic as were the hotel staff. Highly recommend it.

This is a long stay property, that is practical if you need to stay Sao Paulo with a child. Most hotels offer limited roll-in beds, if at all, and charge for it. This hotel, although designed for long stay, accepted us for a night, had a good location, did not charge a fortune for parking, and had a good breakfast. The property is a little old, but I cannot point out any major faults. If the price is right, I will certainly use it again.

This is a good option for a hotel in the area. (Sao Paulo is huge, so make sure you're nearby your main business activities) Rooms are spacious with separate areas for living and sleeping, kitchenette included. The service at the hotel is good, and travellers in English or Spanish won't have any communication problems
However, it is easy to see this hotel was a much better choice in the past, due to a noticeable lack of maintenance. You will notice this problem in the minimal details such as doorknobs and showers, but also with some issues that might have a more direct impact.
For instance, internet services are intermittent or faulty due to old cabling within the hotel. Nobody was able to fix my internet connection in my room, blaming the problem to my computer.
Funny thing I was able to use the same computer downstairs at the lobby with a cable too.

The room is ok, comfortable, nice bed, spacious, two tvs.....on the smaller side. Channel choices are more local oriented. Location is bordering or edge of the safes and nicer Jardin area.

Hallways could be in better shape and the overall decor is a mismatch of new good shape stuff with older bad shape stuff. They seem to be getting better, but the prices are 4stars already.

Good thing is breakfast and internet are included already.
