“A fine hotel in Sao Paulo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Tivoli is a first-class hotel in Sao Paulo, with very comfortable rooms, excellent service (English is spoken by most of the staff), a lovely bar and outdoor pool, an excellent buffet breakfast included with the room (with an omelet station), and a superb Spanish restaurant on the top floor. The hotel is clean, rooms are spacious and well maintained. It is part of the Leading Hotels of the World group. I have stayed in it for 4 days in my most recent stay, and I would happily return.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

I spent four nights in early November in the Tivoli. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room large (not a Collection Room) and clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom fine, but not drop-dead wonderful. My only real complaint was the wi-fi. It was not free and it was difficult to connect. The helpful staff came up to my room to assist me. The public spaces were very nice and breakfast on the lower level was pleasant with a lot of choices. The mini-bar was very pricey and a bottle of Evian (?a liter) was $11. Recommendation: turn right out of the hotel, walk up to the corner to a shopping street, turn right and buy water and snacks at the grocery store.

The former Sao Paulo Sheraton, the Tivoli is well maintained, centrally located and delivers a consistent level of service to the business traveler. Reserve the Collection Rooms (upper floors) to get updated bathrooms. The tapas restaurant on the top floor should not be overlooked.

Great location, near São Paulo main avenue (Av. Paulista), perfect for business or short stay, very clean, big rooms, big beds, medium size bathrooms, clean decoration, no free wi-fi connection, mini bar very expensive.

very nice hotel and staff. hotel was recently renovated. stayed in one of the collection rooms, very spacious bathroom and room. lobby bar is ver hip and great drinks. i used the fitness for one day, cheap and very complete equipment. I have heard great things of their spa but did not get a chance to try. would recommend this hotel for leisure and business.

Tivoli Hotel was not that good.
A cleaning lady walked into our room without knocking. Did not know someone was staying there and she could take her break there. Gave us a chok when she came in.
There was a lot of noise from the elevator which made it hard to relax in the room. Fitness center is ok - but especially good if you like spinning.
The swimming pool is not really a pool but more like a pond. The breakfast was good... but in a dark room in the basement.

Lets start with some tips. Check in takes about 10 minutes per person, they take forever and the whole process is incredibly slow, so if there is a queue in front of you expect a long wait.

The service in the restaurant was also incredibly slow. Four of us ordered two salads and two sandwich selections that took an hour to arrive (and then were wrong!) don't eat in, there are many better restaurants close by.

Go out and buy some water from a shop or local garage. I know this sounds mean and ridiculous but a single bottle of water costs 39 in the hotel whereas 12 bottles in the local shop costs 30 for all 12.

Whatever you do, do not stay in any room ending in 01 or 02 or 13. The lifts in this hotel make the same noise as the space shuttle launch and you will be awake most of the night as they rattle, groan and shake past your floor.

With regard to the rooms. Don't have confidential conversations in your room, if voices are even slightly raised you can hear every word said.

If you want to use the concierge service to book anything e.g. a restaurant do it during the day. They don't open until 11.00am and close at 9.00pm, then when you have booked it get them to double check it's OK and definitely booked because they are liable to forget to do it

Overall. This is a very expensive hotel with a service that does not even begin to match the price.
