“Good service, expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2011

Sao Paulo hotel prices near the financial district feel very high - including the hotel room, the restaurant, and even the Cokes in the mini-bar. But the service was excellent, with a concierge who took time to map out locations, make restaurant reservations for us, and help with taxis. The recommendation of the MASP which was two blocks away produced one of my best travel experiences anywhere. The rooms were nicely appointed, and I haven't had such high water pressure in years in a shower!!! The two double beds instead of a king were probably the only drawback in the room.

As others have pointed out, the Wifi is expensive, but free if you sign up for the frequent stayer program at no cost - saved me 4 days of fees. And the hotel desk clerk volunteered that information to me when I asked if Wifi was available.

The restaurant food was exquisite. Probably the best soups and stews I've had anywhere. Traditional, hearty food. Local foods and traditional, fresh fruits, amazing pastry and desserts.

Could be that Brazil on my first trip there colors my review positive, but aside from expense it was a very good hotel, with very good food, and excellent service.

Room Tip: Stay as far from the noisy elevator as possible. They were fast, but noisy. And the helipad on the b...

We stayed at this hotel for one night prior to flying home from honeymoon.
We had very high expectations of the hotel, in part due to the high room rates.
The check in staff were efficient, and the concierge helpful and knowledgable.
Our room was not worthy of a 5 star hotel, with paint peeling from the walls, and filthy carpets. However the worst aspect was the bathroom, with the bath being dirty, and paint again peeling off when the taps were run.
The food was also disappointing. We eat in the bar. Whilst the food was tasty, it was cold by the time it reached our table. The breakfast buffet was also poor, with sub standard bread and hot buffet selection.
Our overall experience was not helped by the presence of a pop star staying in the hotel, which meant security was over bearing and peace and quiet hard to come by.
Overall, this was very poor value for money, and I would have been disappointed with the room if it were a 3 star.

fine rooms, chocking prices for laundry(16usd/shirt) , wifi (30usd/day!), good and generous bkfast but does not include expresso, and rip off when checking in early or checking out late with reception staff refusing to listen. rooms are quite noisy, between the helicopters, the fans of a pop group and the neighbors...

The public areas and spa were very nice. The rooms on the top floors were clean and modern. The staff on the other I found to have an attitude and seemed to forget that they were not the guest. Our first room was noisy (you coud here the constan sounds from the high speed lifts), small and had an obstructed view. They gave us a very hard time when we asked for another room and had to fight them to change it even though the hotel was not full. The staff were all very curt and unfriendly. They need to learn from the Ritz-Carlton chain as to how to treat their guests. The staff made the dtay unpleasant and I would think twice about going back.

Room Tip: Only book on the high luxury floors

For a 5 star hotel and the price you pay the following was most dissappointing:
1. You pay for internet and only if you ask and know that if you become a loyalty member that it is complimentary
2. It was the first time ever that we had to pay additional 15 Real to use a hotels gym
3. On the night of arrival the porter opened the taxi door and asked if we needed assistance, we said yes and he said it will cost 10 Real....shocking
4. Hotel reception staff aren't the most friendly

Overall for a 5 star hotels that charges these prices it was just sad to see that they missed the finer touches, L'Hotel around the corner which is a 4 star hotel and charges much less is 10 times better and has alot more attention to detail and their staff go out of their way to assist you with anything in the most friendliest way. If you want to stay at the best hotel in Sao Paulo rather spend a few USD more or Real and choose a hotel that incl. most services.

Some rooms have also not been refurbished and sadly these rooms are not advertised on their website.

I have visited Sao Paulo on numerous occasions and just cannot find a hotel that I feel happy with in terms of service and comfort. The Tivoli exceeded expectations. I arrived very late in the evening, the check in was swift and pleasant, I was allocated one of the club rooms (which I believe are far better than those on the lower floors).

The room was large, very nicely furnished and the bed extremely comfortable. The next day I realised that my view was pretty grim, although I spent little time in the room so that was not a big deal. Breakfast was very pleasant buy way over priced, women dont eat huge breakfasts so to pay the equivalent of USD 35 really is a waste of money.

I was shocked to find that to use the gym there is a charge of USD 10. I think that this is outrageous, its very rare nowadays that yo stay in a hotel where the gym is not free. completed my trip with a visit to the Banyan Tree Spa, which was a truly enjoyable and relaxing experience. The treatments are based on those available at the original (Banyan Tree Hotel Phuket) and I can honestly say SP was better!

POSITIVES
Friendly staff, Spa, Quiet rooms

NEGATIVES
Breakfast overpriced, fee to use the gym

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 13th floor, these are enovated
