Business hotel, practical, no thrills. The japanese restaurant did not exist and the gym was both badly maintained and unclean.
Breakfast was very good as the general hotel service.

Business hotel, practical, no thrills. The japanese restaurant did not exist and the gym was both badly maintained and unclean.
Breakfast was very good as the general hotel service.
This was a very good hotel and excellent value. We were able to get an industry rate/discount which brought it to about £40 per night. This was a much better rate than the posted 400R per night.
The staff was very knowledgable and helpful. The hotel is well furnished, very clean and modern enough facilities. The crews for KLM, Swiss and Alitalia stay here so you know it is reputable enough. We took the crew bus to the hotel which saved us about 1.5 hours and about 80R. This was a big plus as it is quite far from the international airport. From the city airport, it is about 30 minutes away and about 50R.
The hotel is in a central enough area of Sao Paulo. However, in general, I would say that there is not much to do in SP. There are some shopping areas to walk to but there is not much to buy. I was also surprised at how expensive that things were in Brazil in general - cheaper than Europe but not by much. It doesn't make any sense to buy foreign brands in Brazil.
The hotel is in a safe area and close to several good restaurants, including a good buffet restaurant right beside the hotel. Also recommended is the internet bar called Monkey. It sure beats the hotel price for internet which is very, very expensive. Monkey is about 15 minutes walk and you need a photocopy of your passport for them to register you.
The pool is OK and best to get it when the sun is on that side of the building however the surrounding buildings block the full sun. The pool is rather small and no deep end but it is good enough. The gym is one of the better ones I have been to throughout my travels. The equipment is old but the free weights are good enough. Entry is free so you can't really go wrong.
The rooms are spacious and very clean. We got a corner room which was a nice bonus so plenty of sunshine and ventilation. The furnishings are a bit tired but fine nevertheless.
The breakfasts were one of the most enjoyable aspects about the hotel. The spread is plentiful and the Japanese options were appreciated.
Overall, I would recommend and stay at this hotel again.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Golden Tulip Paulista Plaza. I stayed for business and pleasure from Oct. 30-Nov 4th in an executive room on the 22nd floor. The room was a decent size, with a desk, couch, and mini-kitchen area. The views, however, were phenomenal. Also, it was very quiet on my floor. I didn't hear the traffic, which I understand can be a problem on lower floors. I didn't use the pool (water was too cold), but I did use the treadmill and spent some time in the steam room and dry sauna. These amenities were basic and closed too early (10pm), but fit the bill. Service was courteous and prompt. When my toilet broke, it was fixed within 30 minutes.
My only complaint would be that the carpets could use a good cleaning and the housekeeping staff was inconsistent. I spilled lotion on the bathroom counter which was there for 2 days afterwards. Overall, I thought it was a decent value (I paid $132/night through my travel agent), especially on an expense account. I did not eat in the hotel, as there were plenty of great restaurants to try around SP. I particularly liked Santa Grao on R. Oscar Freire (SP's Rodeo Drive) and the restaurant at the Museum of Modern Art. There's a highly rated restaurant (Baby Beef Rubayat) across the street and plenty of Japanese restaurants around the corner from the hotel as well.
I stayed at this hotel for four nights. It is conveniently located in the business district. The property is well maintained and rooms are equipped with a desk large enough to work as well as enough lights There is a free (wired) internet connection.
The buffet breakfast was also great.
A little bit busy in the lobby and may take some extra time for check-in or check out. However, with the price I paid, this was
a bargain
Great hotel with really good facilities. We arrived early and the yallowed us to check in at no extra cost. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. The price of this hotel on line is so good. along with the location and breakfast this hotel is definately one to visit in Sao Paulo.
Rooms are larger than average, the bath is lovely and the sauna and steam rooms are good.
Only one thing to be aware of - be careful about your bill if you have room service, ours was incorrect, but the manager was helpful and corrected it when we explained that we received something we did not order.
Look out for Reginaldo on the front desk, he is a great guy for local information.
