This is the second time I have stayed at the property. The only real negative I can find for it, and I'm searching pretty hard, is that it's not very centrally located for the business that I have to do. Hopefully Marriott will open a new property closer to the new financial center of town. However, due to my prior experience with the hotel 2 years ago, and admittedly due to my desire to hoard Marriott points, I was willing to endure the 30 minute cab ride back and forth to my client every day.
I was given a great corner room on a high floor with an amazing view of this sprawling city. As a Platinum member, I was asked if I would like to check in at the lounge upstairs. She was very helpful, inviting me in to eat breakfast before they shut it down at 11am (a very generous time to finish breakfast), and remembering my name on other occasions that I visited the lounge. Perhaps most impressively, they remembered my prior bad experience with dinner at the restaurant there, apologized for it, and offered me dinner on the house. I didn't end up taking them up on it, but I appreciated the gesture, as well as the CRM that kept track of that and flagged my arrival. My rate included breakfast, which was great. The breakfast in the lounge is great as well - about half the size of the restaurant breakfast, but still very good.
Lots of great (and very expensive) restaurants within a 10 minute walk
Not far from the subway. Note that the yellow line has construction going on on the weekends, which ranged from limited service one weekend to complete closure on the other
Close to shopping on Rua Oscar Freire
EVERYONE was unfailingly nice
If you can afford the price, I highly recommend the Renaissance. Truthfully, I couldn't have afforded the $400+ standard rates that were available (our corporate rate was the same), but there was a special rate the included breakfast that was much more reasonable, and for the city / quality of the hotel, frankly a bargain.
Will definitely stay again if I am in SP.
A higher room on the South East side will yield the best views.

Next time your plans bring you to São Paulo, be sure to save sometime and try the “Renaissance Signature Massage” at The Spa at Renaissance. It is performed with Amazonia passion fruit oil and heated soaking towels, surely a good way to end a productive day.
We look forward to welcoming you again to the Renaissance Sao Paulo Hotel!
