“Worth seeing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

The energy of this place on Sundays is worth exploring, if just once. There are lots of small booths with people selling crafts, clothes, knick knacks. A lot of it is cheap, but there may be some interesting items. (And one man's hamburger is another man's steak). I tried one of the a kilo restaurants and really did not think the food was very good. It was Japanese-ish, but quite a few of the dishes were heavily influenced by Brazilian tastes, including cheese filled spring rolls! Very easy access by metro--just got off at Liberdade and you are right in the middle of it.

“no no no”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

this is something you definitely wanna miss... overcrowded place, you cant find a spot to eat, the food is terrible, smells like overused oil and almost everything is fried! run away from the street market and go to one of the restaurants around, much better and truly oriental food!

“Tourist trap. Complete waste of time.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

Tourist trap. Do not waste your time. Full I Chinese made cr@p nothing further away from Japanese aesthetics. Full of fried food, smelly places and cheap stuff.

“Japantown in Sao Paulo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

This is our Japantown in Sao Paulo. Streets decorated with typical archs, plenty of japanese, chinese and other asian restaurants, shops and mini-markets, home of some season festivals (like Tanabata Matsuri - Star festival), during the weekends it is home of a street market with many hand-made piece of art and articles, and a street crowded with people eager for typical cuisine. When in SP, visit it!
