“Greatest eating experience in Rio, it is a MUST”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Porcão is a place you have to go when in Rio. Rodizio (all you can eat) concept is very common in Rio, and the best one is Porcão, which is a Churancaria, which specializes in beef. It is a little bit pricy, but if you do not fall into temptation and do not eat anything from the salad bar/buffet (which is VERY good), and wait a little, waiters will start bringing the good beef (pichanha de BEST).
The price includes everything you eat in the salad bar/buffet, all the beef they bring to your table, and so side dishes like rice, French fries, fried cassava (aipim), fried banana, black beans. So you will have more than plenty. Drinks are not included, neither desserts.
If you want to eat until you die, this is the place!

“a carnivore's paradise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Porcao Rio's is a quintessential Brazilian BBQ place. Beautifully located, overlooking the ocean, and serving a huge range of BBQ-ed meat. In addition thereto, there's a large salad bar and a (mediocre) offering of sushi. Forget about those though, the only reason to come here is the quality and quantity of the meat. Come prepared, don't wear tight skinny jeans and don't overeat on the side dishes.

“Great meat in a hectic loud atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

We asked our concierge for a typical Brazilian BBQ place and she sent us to this restaurant. The food was very good - tons of meat and a great salad bar and sushi bar.

That said this is not the kind of place you want to go for a romantic first date. It is loud and there are many tables of 8+ more people. Great if you are looking for the kind of place to bring your family/friends however for 2 people it was a bit overwhelming - they should cordon off a special area for couples and not seat them amongst the masses. They have an enclosed playground for the kids which my daughter would have loved if she was traveling with us.

“This is the classic churrascuria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

You start with the superb salad, sushi and assorted fish bar, but this is about the meat, so don't eat too much at the help yourself buffet.

The signature Brazilian drink is the Caipirinha made with cachaça. Porcao also offers a vodka version, but I recommend the cachaça. If you don't like it too sweet, ask to have only a little sugar added as you can add more yourself.

The meat just keeps coming until you ask them to stop. You can specify how rare you want it and skip some of the selections of less interest to you. The rib bones, filet, and strip along with the lamb chops were favorites of mine.

“Bring a hearty appetite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

It was an endless parade of grilled meats. Suggest you skip the salad bar and be prepared not to have any room for dessert. Skip the rice and all other carbs! The waiter will give you two round cards [1 red and 1 green] for you to use to indicate whether you want more or you have had enough. Don't know if it was the language barrier or we just didn't understand how the cards were to be used -- the waiters will just kept serving us until we threw up our hands in surrender.
