“Nice hotel on one end of Copacabana”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Stayed for 3 days in Acapulco, and loved the experience. Agree with some of the others that advance payment method is cumbersome and they should change that. Apart from that, just a stone's throw from the beach, with very helpful staff.
The gentleman at the reception gave me very good tips on where all to go and which time of the day to capture the best shots of the city.
A great experience, wanted to stay again, but it seems to be booked.

I didn't actually get to stay here as the booking process foundered. Unable to make the payment securely through the website, I asked for help. They don't use Paypal and I was told to complete an attached insecure form with Credit Card details and send photocopies of both sides of the card. I said we called this cloning and they metaphorically shrugged. Shame, but later booked into Casa Beleza with one click via Paypal.

Having experienced modest quality hotels on Copacabana beach at inflated prices, this one was a real gem. Located 1 block (50 metres) back from the beach at the Leme end of Copacabana, it is close to restaurants, transport links etc. We had a huge room inc 'living' area, with 2 huge TV's. Bathroom was massive with a seperate large 'wet room' style shower room. Breakfast (included) was good (hot and cold) and the free wi-fi was effective from the bedroom (just get an access code from reception). Friendly staff. would return here if we visit Rio again .

Room Tip: Ours was a premium room at modest additional cost, 12th floor and very quiet

This is a real nice hotel. They gave us a big bedroom, with a balcony facing the street. This hotel is one block away from the beach, so you can walk with your towel and enjoy the waves of Rio.! There are stores and restaurants nearby. The Rio do Sul Mall is also very close. They have a very friendly and efficient staff. You can get excellent free coffee at the bar. Great breakfast. Free wi-fi. We really enjoyed staying at this hotel in Rio .

I have traveled to Rio many times and after many negative experiences with overly priced, dingy hotels, I was delighted when I found Acapulco Copacabana. This is by no means a luxurious hotel, it is a basic hotel with friendly staff in a great location. It is located in Leme, which is the very start of Copacabana beach. It is only a small block from the beach front which means it only takes you 10 seconds to leave the hotel entrance and reach the wonderful sands of Copacabana. There is no gym in the hotel because there doesnt need to be. It doesnt get any better than walking/running with the locals by the beach!

Even though Leme is far from trendy Ipanema or Leblon, taxis are readily available outside and inexpensive. If, like me, you need to venture into the city for business meetings, this location is convenient as the main road towards the city centre is at the hotel's doorstep.

The rooms are big, and views are typically to concrete walls of next door buildings. The furniture is old, but the rooms are clean and have tiled floors making them feel cleaner. Bathrooms are also large and clean. Breakfast is great and offers great variety. Room service is incredibly basic so stick to restaurants!

As for service, I find the people here very friendly and always willing to help out. They have smiles on their faces and make you feel very welcome. I will continue to stay at Acapulco Copacabana despite its shortcomings.

The room we obtained was extremely bad - very old style, old furnature, unpleasant at all.
We had to wait 30 min for our room although we arrived late.
The front desk personnel not friendly.
Although we reserved a room for 4 nights, we left after the first night.

Good breakfast though.

Room Tip: I would never return to this hotel....

This hotel doesnt have the 'great glamorous Ocean views', but it is only one block back from the beach, so you really can't fault the central and convenient location. It is located right behind the (massive) Windsor Hotel, so it is easy to find your bearings when you're walking along the never-ending copacobana beachfront

Only takes about 5 mintues to walk to the AMAZING Copacobana Palace Hotel, which means you can stagger home from your late night cocktails, easily.... and there are constant taxi cabs if you cant even face that much exertion!

The hotel was modern (decor) clean and the staff friendly and some spoke English. We stayed in the last-available family room, right above the main road so we did hear traffic noise, but the hotel was generaly quiet and modern.
Breakfast buffet was really really good and it didnt finish too early for us party-girls!
On that topic, it seems Rio is trying to clean up its reputation, so we found it surprisingly hard to locate the late-night scene, midweek? all the bars/clubs we tried only opened thursday-sunday (but we visitied just before carnival, so everyone was pacing themselves)

Rio is a super-glam destination, It isn't cheap BUT in restaurants try ordering ONE MAIN DISH FOR TWO PEOPLE. this is fairly common practice, most Brasilians eat socially, and we wasted money ordering too much food when we simply hadnt realised the portion sizes - and we are big eaters too!.

Room Tip: try to get a room NOT facing over the Road, as there is traffic noise
