“Nice to takes pictures in and around”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

It's not a place full of people so it requires at least some caution against pickpockets and camera snatchers. I don't mean the place is abandoned, not at all, I don't mean it's not highly visited by tourists, it is. I mean, just for you not to try to reach it on foot. take a taxi and have it wait for you or set a time with the driver for him to return and pick you up. The area around the monument is extremely beautiful and has one of the most fantastic views in Rio

“Worth a 10 minute visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

An interesting construction near the Modern Art Museum. All Brazilian soldiers that died in the second world war are buried in there.

“An off-trail jewel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Rio has so many beautiful places to go that this real jewel of modern architectures is often let aside. Visit it for the memories of Brazilians who died for our freedom in the WWII and for the view of Guanabara Bay and the Aterro do Flamengo.

This is a very good spot for pictures during the city tour . Make a pit stop and you will see all downtown and the Guanabara´s bay in front of you. If you like pictures dont miss this place.

“Beautiful example of Brazilian Architecture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2012

Brazil's role in WWII is a laughable one. Then president Getulio Vargas nearly collaborated with Hitler, and in the end sent troops for a Brancaleone kind of mission in Italy. The military comissioned this monument for their dead and the usual unknown soldier. What is nice about this is that it sits on a great place in the Aterro do Flamengo, and the monument itself is a stunning piece of design.
