“Fantastic - a forest so close to Rio - visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Its 15 minutes from Copacabana just past the Botanical Garden and you are in what's left of an Atlantic Rain forest . Its green with exuberant trees, view points over the city and waterfalls. The Vista Chinesa provides a magnificent view of Rio. The experience is interesting.

“Go with a solo guide to waterfall!”

Michael from TousByLocals was excellent. We parked at the bottom of the mountain, walked up he gorgeous road to the falls and went for a swim. So much better than The more popular places.

“Worth it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

Our flight was at 8:00 PM so we needed to fill a whole afternoon after we had checked out of the hotel. We did an open-air jeep tour with a company called Indiana Jungle. They picked us up at 1:00 PM and dropped us off back at the hotel at 4. The forest was amazing! We saw a variety of plants and animals, even an agouti! The view from the Chinese pavilion was unbeatable! The history lesson from our guide was also very enlightening.

Only in Rio you would concebe a tropical forest inside a city. And it is an amazing visit, with several waterfalls spreaded along the paths where you can dive in. You can choose to make a guided tour around the forest, or to simply get lost around and find a few magic spots of your own: many are known only to a few locals...
