“A very old Hotel, needing lots of repairs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

Once again in Rio de Janeiro you get a Hotel with decades.
The problem is that in decades the owners refuse to make any type of conservations/repair or modernization.

This is a very old hotel and forget the 4 stars classification. In europe would be 2 ou 3 stars maximum
The lifts are completely degraded. The pool on the top of the floor has a nice view, but you are taking bath with some 10 antennas 3 o4 meters away from you. and this are radiating antennas for cell phones, not TV antennas.
The room the same thing: every thing is old, the mirror are broke, the bathroom surely in 50 years never got a repair, a old TV with awful image. The beds were probably older than me, as were the sheets and all the furniture the room
You want WiFi, you'll have to pay for it, its extra... and this is a 4 stars Hotel.
The only positive things is the breakfast.
The employees at least are not unpolite like the majority in the hotels in Rio de Janeiro.

Friendly staff, good location, excellent rooms and marvellous breakfast. Near Copacabana beach, lots of well priced restaurants. Near transport routes and supermarkets. Would use this hotel again. Could not fault it.

Room Tip: Even number rooms

Found the hotel on a hotel comparison web site, it was considerably cheaper than a lot of the others so was a little unsure. When we arrived I was pleased we had made the right decision. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We had just a standard room, it well equipment and clean with good bed, air con, mini bar, etc. Hotel décor a little dated but perfectly acceptable. Pool on the roof was good with excellent view of Christ the Redeemer and roof tops of Copacabana. You can see the sea but only between buildings. Breakfast was included, good choice of different food to suit everyone.

Room Tip: we had a room on 12 floor so had a good view. lower floors wont!

I've booked this hotel thru booking.com for 3 night for my daughter.
Whn they've arrived to the Hotel they were told that there is no reservation(they admited the next day the mistake they made), they didn't let them access the Wi-Fi and didn't call the booking agency, so they had to travel around to find a place in Rio in the late evening.
They do not communicate well in English so you better stay away from theis Hotel

Thieves!!! I went to the pool and when i was gone they had maintenance guy in to fix my shower which wasn't working.
When i came back from the pool everything was gone!
iPad iPhone and Nikon camera worth total $5000.00
They didn't care one bit and I threatened to put it all over the internet and they just said do it!

Don't need to say much, but I will. The hotel needs to be upgraded into modern standards. Noisy aircondition, old furniture, smell of old stuff. Anyways, I can live with that, however, there are certain things that I can't:

First I asked about Wi-fi in the room. The receptionst was very uncomfortable about answering my question. He said how to connect and that it costed 15 reais per day. In the room, I could not connect, I believe the receptionist knew this allready when I checked in. I took the elevator down to the reception. There the manager was, and he explained it didn't work, but they had called their provider for help. I took a walk for 2 hours and got back. Still no internet, and now my keycard didn't work. Took the elevator down, said it didn't work, they fixed it, I took the elevator up again, it still didn't work. Down again, this time with a secutiry guard with me up. Card didn't work, but he had a universal key so i got in. Packed my bag, walked out, cancelled my room. No one said they were sorry, just goodbye. I do not reccommend, not the receprionist fault, but somewhat service minded they should be.

I reserved there a room based on some good reviews in Tripadvisor although there were also bad reviews.
The hotel is old and tired. We entered an old, stinky room and not very clean.
We left immediately, trying to get refund for the night. They didn't want to refund, they offered us an upgraded room but we just didn't want to stay there.
When we left out to the taxi the reception men were laughing at us. Something like "screw you" style. They didn't really care about their clients.
Luckily we found near by the Windsor hotel which was very good.
