This hotel is fairly basic but is very clean and tidy. Breakfast was included, the choice was fairly limited but what was there was good. The hotel is situated in the Flamengo area and a fair way from Copacabana and Ipanema but has a metro station very close by which is easy to use and a good way to get about.

I will echo what previous reviewers have said, and add that the price seems to have gone up. We booked in January, 2008 and so were able to get a 30% discount and paid $R170 per night.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for the very clean rooms, helpful staff, and location, if you are OK with not being right in Ipanema or Leblon. I went to Flamengo beah once and found it used by retired folks and young families--just my kind of beach!

We stayed on two different occasions. Our first room, #503, was more spacious and very comfortable, but near the somewhat loud elevator traffic. The second, #511, was very quiet, but cramped. I would ask to see the room if possible before making a choice! It does get a bit loud around 7-8 a.m. if many business people are stayng there.

This hotel is great. They are currently refurbishing (please note that this does not mean that you are disturbed by noise) and I stayed in one of the brand new rooms which are furnished very nicely with plenty of storage and a fridge, safe, aircon and tv with excellent choice of channels (not that you will probably fin time to watch them!!). The showers are also great and perfect for eliminating the days sand etc! Everything spotlessly clean in rooms, reception, corridors etc and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a small 'business centre' with PCs with very reasonable internet prices and more importantly, aircon!

Basically this hotel is worth way more than it's star rating and is great value and in a great location near the metro system. Flamengo has plenty of restaurants and amenities and the main stretches of Copacabana are only 10 mins by taxi (which are very cheap). Would def recommend this one!

I was a solo female backpacker for the first time in Rio de Janiro, everywhere was really expensive and I wanted to stay for a week.

Asking around I got to Catete station by Metro (only R$2.00 o/w), this is the Flamengo area (like 15 min away by metro from Copacabana, Leblon, etc) and the price difference was swell!! :)

Only R$60.00 (now in 2007 I check the Internet and it is 39 euros)
with a big breakfast and really close to the beach (1/2 block)

I went back a couple of times and always stay here.. it is clean, big windows, big bathrooms, hot water (not that you need hot water, but you sure need the shower...), and excelent reception service (to hook up a taxi to go see Corcovao, Sugar loaf (pao de acucar) , etc.)

I highly recomment id :)

The hotel is located near Praia do Flamengo, Aterro do Flamengo, a park that possesses gardens designed by Roberto Burle Marx. We are a few minutes away from the most famous tourist sights of our city. The hotel is also close to several other attractions movie theaters, museums, Cecmlia Meireles Concert Hall, theaters, baroque churches, very good commerce and restaurants. We are 10 minutes away from Copacabana, 5 minutes away from downtown and Santos Dumont Airport and 15 minutes away from the municipal bus station.
