“Hotel ejecutivo, anticuado con buen servicio/ Executive hotel, out of date but good service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

We stayed in June. The location is good for someone on business trip. There's a lot of movement and traffic in the are and people in the lobby, meetings, etc. It is near the La Candelaria church which used work as Rio's Cathedral in ancient times.
Service was good, people were nice, with good disposition to work. Room service was fast.
Since it was 1 am and restaurant was closed we ordered toasted sandwiches (misto quente) wich comes with french fries as side and a vanilla ice cream as a dessert.
French fries were great, ice cream too but sandwiches not so much.
They had wifi conection, which i managed to use with my computer but not on my iphone.
Room was big, had a meeting room in the front with a table, we had led or lcd tv a big and comfortable bed. Room decoration was old fashioned, out of date.Rooms must be renovated.
We had street view through our window.
I didn´t use other leisure & service options like the pool or gym but breakfast was very good and varied even though it was crowded due to what I believe was a Santander Bank convention.

i went for work, i did work. spent in the hotel the minimum time. lobby is good, breakfast is good. room is not so good. missing renovation on bed clothing and modern design...there are several windsor hotels in town if you are a tourist go for the ones close to the beach!

Location Ok, in business district with zero eating places after work hours near by. Hotel restaurant is Ok with a couple of gems in the buffet. Breakfast is well stocked with enough variety for the 5 days I stayed.

The rooms are the downfall of the hotel. the They are dated and could do with an overhaul. For the price and star rating I would have expected a full bath tub but there was only a shower.
In short an average hotel and I could have done better.

When you see the location, you are happy with the hotel. When you walk into the lobby, you are happy with the hotel. When you wlak into your room, you wonder -what the heck just happenned??-. Rooms are just in bad shape. Looks like a cheap cheap highway motel. Noisy AC, old mattress, small bathroom.
The breakfast was nice, good selection of cold cuts, cheese and fruit.
The service, as in all of Rio, is rough on the edges, but OK. Don't expect anybody to strive or to go beyond the strictly necessary.

I have stayed in Windsor Guanabarra a couple of times. i am aware that when people think of Brazil, RIO ...they think of beaches, Copacabana, Ipanema etc. but you will be surprised that RIO has so much more than Copacabana etc. Rio is full of beautiful, historical buildings,, Churches and cobbled streets etc. so to explore all these places its best to stay in Centro or downtown. Windsor Guanabarra is got best location for this. right outside the hotel is bus stop, down the street is the Metro and instantly you are on your way to beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema etc. the bus and metro connections from this hotel is the best. also the famous Colombo Confetaria is just a 2 min walk from the hotel. the hotel also has a shuttle service to the airport and to the biggest, famous mall RIO SUL. once you get off at Rio Sul...its a gentle walk accross to Copacabana.
the food is just ok. there are much better places to eat around the hotel that i never ate in the hotel. the breakfast buffet was very boring and its the SAME day in and day out. i would really want the hotel to make improvements in their food, the menu choices are very limited and the room service menu was extremely limited. please make some changes. otherwise i had no complaints. the staff at the reception is very nice, helpful, polite...the bell boys are very warm and friendly and its wonderful to be greeted with warmth by them everytime we go there. the housekeeping is EXCELLENT!! spotless, clean rooms, corridors etc. i highly recommend.

Do not come here. It is awful. The pool is tiny with cloudy water and often locked. The gym is boiling hot due to no aircon and sun streaming through windows. The bar is a conference room (no 'bar') with miserable staff sitting around watching tv. All staff seem desperately unhappy. Service is sullen, ill-informed and unhelpful, if not downright hostile. The menu in the buffet originates in the 1950s and the actual food appears to have been sitting there since then. Your wifi password is your surname which will be misspelled in a way you could not guess. To complete our stay, our toilet broke, so our final memories involve pouring binfulls of water down the toilet. The area around the hotel manages to combine the seemingly impossible combination of being both very boring and extremely dangerous.

I did book this 4-star hotel for one night, but they overbooked therefore they relocated me to another hotel belonging to the same chain. Only when I got there, I found out it was a 3-star facility, even though the chain owns plenty of other 4-star hotels, all showing room availability. Therefore the only thing worth mentioning about the Windsor Guanabara is that they cheat on the overbooking policy. Even after relocating me, they were still showing room availability online: I guess it's a strategy to attract customers toward their less popular facilities.
