5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

Checked in early to the copacobana palace. On arrival was served coffee and water- nice touch. Throughout the stay we found the staff extremely helpful.Would definitely stay here again if I come to Rio. Only thing missing was chocolate on the pillow for the turn down service.

Room Tip: Sea view suit

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for posting your valuable feedback. We are very glad to be informed that your stay was remarkable and memorable. Regarding the turn down service, we got very concerned because it is not common to take place. Maybe you have put a not disturb identification at your door. In any case, we will reinforce to our team.

We spent 4 days at the Copacabana Palace Hotel at end of April 2014. It was an very beautiful hotel that stood out amongst the more modern "boring" hotels along Copacabana beach. The decor or the hotel was fabulous, the rooms we were in had a window overlooking the beach and was spotlessly clean and well designed. The staff were wonderfully attentive without being overtly intrusive. Breakfast at the hotel was very good with buffet and also a chef making fresh omelettes to order. We ordered room service once with a request for a take-out box to go sit on the beach, this took a long time to arrive and was nothing special (should have picked up something at one of the many beachside cafe's which we did another time and was good food if not entirely healthy ;)). The ambiance and grandeur of this hotel is what sets it apart from any other I have stayed at, it has fantastic history too.. We certainly felt very special staying here and would recommend to anyone looking for a special place to stay while exploring the beautiful city of Rio.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the beach just feels so much more special, we did not have a balcony , wish we ha...

We stayed at the Copacabana Palace in Rio in May while on a tour of South America. This is a world class hotel of grand proportions, elegance and luxury overlooking Copacabana beach. The service is exceptional and staff are attentive, helpful and most speak English. The guest suites are luxurious. The buffet breakfast was outstanding with both indoor restaurant seating and outdoor seating by the huge outdoor swimming pool. There are a couple of fine dining restaurants within the hotel but many eating options are also available near the hotel. Staying at this hotel was a truly memorable experience!

The Copacabana Palace harkens back to an elegant era of the 1920s -- retaining the charm and grace of a bygone era, but with all the modern conveniences of the 21st century. The hotel consists of two buildings, each with its own individual style: The original "main building," built in 1923, has the feel of Monte Carlo, and the newer "annex" includes gorgeous suites and a world-class restaurant, Cipriani. "Lap-of-luxury" describes both parts of the hotel, which flank the largest private swimming pool in the Rio. The property has recently been restored to its original beauty and gracefulness, and with upgrades required of a modern 5-star property (such as Wi-Fi, business center, etc.). A truly superb breakfast is provided in the Pergula restaurant, with seating indoors or by the pool. The hotel's staff quietly attends to your every need, and they speak flawless English. The only downside to the Copacabana Palace is that it is not an extremely large hotel (many hotels in Rio are larger), which means that it is often booked up (sold out) weeks or months in advance. So, if you are considering staying at this hotel, the best advice is to book your reservation as early as possible.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are very quiet.

Dear Guest,
We would like to thank very much for sending your comments and description of the Copacabana Palace Hotel. We are very happy that we could make you very impressed. In fact, among the 239 rooms available, they have different sizes, decor and own personality. The demand is very intense. Por example, we are already receiving requests of reservations for the New Year's Eve and Carnival 2015. It is really better not to delay.

What a wonderful stay in Rio. The Copacabana Palace lived up to our high expectations. We booked through AmEx fine hotels and got upgraded to a gorgeous two room suite with two terraces. The buffet breakfast was delicious, especially the fruit, which took up over half the spread. The mango literally just melts in your mouth. But the best part of our stay was the concierge. They gave great recommendations and helped us plan our day in Rio. We needed some medication from the pharmacy, which they had delivered to our room in 15min- now that is service! I also recommend the spa. It's a very different type of massage than you get in the states, so if you are self conscious, you might not appreciate it. For myself, it might have been the best/most relaxing massage I've ever had.

The service from arrival to exit is simply outstanding, all staff are always super attentive without exception, whenever they want information or a tip the staff try to detail the most of this information.

Good hotel, but overpriced. Yes, large and well-equipped rooms, however shower was not working properly, location is far from ideal and poor service at the restaurant.
Again, not that the hotel isn't good, but it's not what you would expect from a US$400-500 / night hotel:
- Location: despite being the most famous beach in Rio, Copacabana is a declining neighborhood, far from the best restaurants and much less attractive than Ipanema/Leblon.
- Service: Pergula restaurant is not what you could expect from a US$70-80 dollar meal. Took minutes to be able to get attention from the waiters, then they forgot about the request.
