We stayed at the Porto for 4 nights before our tour and 2 nights at the end before returning to UK. We arrived late in the evening and the staff welcomed us with a glass of champagne. Our room was on the 18th floor overlooking the beach with a balcony (at a extra cost) At no extra cost the last 2 nights we were upgraded to a suite on the 6th floor overlooking the beach and allowed to keep the room till 6pm. The rooms were very spacious with a tv,hairdryer, comfortable beds spotlessly clean as was the the public areas.Excellent buffet breakfast which included a wide selection of fruit. All the staff were very friendly and helpful nothing to much trouble and all english speaking.Allow 2-3 for sightseeing,we booked our trips to Sugar loaf mountain, botainical gardens,Corcovadoand Tijuca forest. We used the local bus to the shopping malls costing a flat fare 2.20 and a walk along the beach is certainly worthwhile.Although it was winter time the temp. never gets below 24 degrees and it was higher 28 during our visit. One of our guides said in the summer it rises to 40 plus and at the weekends 'you can't see the sand for people' We would certainly stay at the Porto Bay again.
