“Amazing atmosphere that the staff can't mirror”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

When I walked in this place I was floored -- seriously, floored -- by the atmosphere. It was a beautiful night, and the restaurant (it's really a full-service restaurant, not a cafe) unfolds over three levels underneath an enormous tropical tree. There is tasteful lighting and it's just the pleasant type of place in which I could sit for hours.

...which is precisely what we did. Twenty minutes of sitting before our server came over to deliver menus. Another 20 minutes until he came back. Thirty minutes for the appetizer to come. Forty-five minutes after that before our meals came. All told, this was an investment of over two hours for a simple meal which was good for most of us -- the rosemary and parmesan pizza was truly excellent as an appetizer -- but not incredible. I'd go back for the pizza and the atmosphere, but only with a LOT of time to kill.

“Nice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2014 via mobile

Cute place, not crazy about the food. The street is charming and the restaurant is as well, but the food is not that great. Santa Teresa is a place with so many options, so you might find something better...

One of the cutest cafes of the iconic Santa Teresa Neighbourhood. Good food, great ambiance and the nicest owners!

“A very nice place with charm and character for a meal or a drink”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

Near Largo dos Guimarâens, this beautiful c.XIX house has different levels of terraces under leafy trees. Don't hesitate to go inside and sit in some of the original rooms or at any of the tables outside. A waiter will approach you in no time, not like many other places in Rio where you think you are invisible, to take your orders and serve you with efficency.
The artesanal beer (6,90 riais or €2,25) comes in frozen glasses and the juices (3,90 riais or €1,25) are very good. We had a nice Salad (32,50 riais or €10) and a Galhinada, or Rice with Chicken (38,50 riais or €12,60) which was abundant but very dry. The portions were enough for two. The total bill came to 104,61 riais or €34,75 each. A bit expensive, but -believe me- the place is worth that.
