I was with a friend walking down Dias Ferreira, where most of the good restaurants are in Leblon, when I saw this small new Italian place where once was a posh Japanese restaurant. I decided to stay when the waiter told me that this new restaurant belonged to the owners of Duo, a sophisticated Italian restaurant in Barra, although too far away for Leblon/Ipanema people.
The name is Bottega del Vino, and it has a small open area with a few tables, before its front door. The day was cloudy and not hot, so we decided to stay in this area for lunch. Bottega has a choice of executive or full menu, the former consist of an appetizer, entrée and dessert for a fixed price, and if you want you can add a glass of wine.
The selection of wines by the glass is outstanding, the service is fast and effective (which is not very common in Rio), and the food is very good too. I recommend the Tortelli (like a ravioli with burrata) and the caprese salad.
The ambiance is great, as the place is refined but looks very relaxed and casual, taking in the spirit of Rio in the summer.
It was quite a positive experience.
