“Good vegetarian food, lots of choices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Casual vegetarian restaurant with lots of choices, some of which fairly original. Some of the staff speak English. Reasonable prices.

“Very nice place - good food and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

A great veggie restaurant in Copacabana ... apparently the only one! I spoke to the owner and she tells me that plans are afoot to open the place for evening meals soon, in addition to the current noon til 6 pm arrangement.

Staff were very helpful and can speak English... although they do have an English version of their menu too. All food is categorised gluten-free/vegan/veggie. There is a daily menu of hot plates in the counter plus a la acarte menu. The quality of the food is very good and the dishes are quite imaginitive; I particularly liked the quiches - ununusual for a vegan dish. Also enjoyed the many desserts that they make. Liked this place so much I ate there every day.

Price is pretty reasonable - RL 7-10 for a dish.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

Let me preface that I loved Vegan Vegan and Refeitório Orgânico restaurants. Bio Carioca I was extremely disappointed in however. If you're GLUTEN FREE, BE CAREFUL! There are options on the menu that are labeled gluten free and come to find out after we'd eaten one of these appetizers, that only a portion of the meal is actually gluten free i.e the dip and not the toast. Once we came to realize this, the owner (who speaks English) brought us some gluten free chips to use for our next appetizer. Apparently the waiter is supposed to explain all of this but seeing as how most of th don't speak a word of English, that makes things difficult. This should be clarified on their menu (and the owner said they would change this bc it happens a lot but who knows by when.) On a positive note, the English version of the menu is very clear otherwise and well marked and the owner did try to make up for her mistake. The restaurant is very close to the Cantagolo metro stop if you're not staying in Copacabana, is a very quaint (family style seating) restaurant and is priced well. Beside the gluten free fiasco, of 5 dishes we ordered, only one was good and all others were not in the slightest. The sun-dried tomato app is delicious, lentil loaf is gross, white bean stew is lacking in flavor and the spinach/squash casserole tastes like it was soaked and dipped in salt and butter (and not in a good way.) go to Refeitório Orgânico
or Vegan vegan instead!!!

“Great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

One of the best vegetarian restaurants I've ever been. The rice was cooked perfect and all the other choices were great. We ate there everyday, for 6 days!

Beautiful place, small, relaxed and with good service. The food is amazing, with a huge variety of different veggie dishes. Nice for lunch
