“B & B with a difference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Had a wonderfully relaxed 8 nights here after 2 back to back tours in Peru and Ecuador. Our hosts couldn't have been more obliging: from prompt airport pick up, ordering in takeaway pizzas, allowing us to store food and wine in the fridge and being generous in letting us use the kitchen to prepare dinners! We spent several evenings dining outside, enjoying marvellous hillside views over the nearby favelas - there was even an unusual nighttime glimpse of Cristo Redentor through the trees behind, lit up quite eerily! Breakfasts were amazing (we didn't eat lunch the whole time we were there), our room, although not over large, was perfectly adequate and cleaned daily. Hikes from the tram station up the hill got tiring by the end of a week so we resorted to taxis!

Room Tip: We didn't do this but it might be worth paying the extra to stay in the cottage, although the vi...

We stayed for 3 nights in April and had to go back for another in May. The house was lovely and the hosts made you feel right at home, providing advice and guidence when needed. To rooms where pristine and cleaned every day. The beds where very comfortable and we had a great night sleep each night - it was nice and quiet at night. Huge breakfast that will keep you going through to dinner. Can't speak highly enough.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms would be good. We had the monkey room and where extremely happy with this.

We were dropped of by a cab at the rail track for the cabin to Corcovado, just looking at a wall with number 283 on it. This must be it. A little further up the hill there's Casa Caminho.
The main house is gorgeous! We stayed in the guest house in the garden which was splendid! Breakfast is absolutely delicious.
Our host Diogo made us feel welcome from the start and spend a lot of time answering all our questions.
Rio is great and this Bed and Breakfast made it an even greater experience!

Casa Caminho do Corcovado and the owner Helena gave me an unforgettable weekend. Beautiful house with a very comfortable suite. Bathroom spotless with fantastic perfumed towels. Beautiful view with birds for those who want to rest. The owner was always helpful, surprised me with an early breakfast. I could to live in that piece of Rio de Janeiro forever. Thanks Helena for you hospitality. Walter Goldfarb

Room Tip: I recommend the suite where I stayed on the first floor while all the suites are excellent.

We spent 10 nights in May at 'Casa Helena' as I called it. This guesthouse it a true guesthouse. Imagine the perfect host and that's Helena, as well as her son Diogo. They know the perfect balance between hospitality, being at your service, but with all the respect for your private space. They help you wherever they can, and they know the city as the back of their hands, so do always consult them before leaving this little hide away from the city. That is also one of the unique assets of this b&b: the location. It is at the border of the national forest, so you are in the city, but with the feeling of being in the middle of nature. Green, beautiful view, monkeys in the garden, just amazing. The steep hill to get there will be a problem if you are not fit, unless you take a taxi up there, and taxis are rather cheap in Rio. You can read it in all the reviews and we can confirm: the breakfast is delicious! This is for us one of the best places we have ever stayed thanks to the owners and the location.

We were stranded after we couldn't get into the hotel we'd originally booked. When we rang at the gate here late at night, the gentleman couldn't offer us a room, but spend a good hour and a half on the phone finding us a hotel. What a lovely thing to do, he pretty much saved our short stay in Rio for us.. The guest house is in an amazing area with great views and it looks very stylish. On the basis of the help we received, I would highly recommend! And thanks again for your help!

We spent 5 nights in this splendid Pousada on the edge of the national park and a short walk from the train to the "Corcovado" and "Christo Redentor". Helena and her son Diogo have been excellent host and have been really helpful during our stay. The house and park are stunning with the odds Marmoset monkeys turning up early morning on the giant bamboos. Although a bit remote, it is very handy (and safe) to go around the city by bus.
