“Downtown Rio: A Brasserie attended by Cariocas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Brasserie Rosario has been there not for a very long time but it is already one of carioca's (person born in the city of Rio de Janeiro) first options for eating on weekdays in downtwon. Near the Church of Candelaria and right on the so called "Cultural Corredor", it is very busy for lunch from Monday to Friday, so arrive by noon, otherwise you'll have to wait for sitting. Ask for the hors d'oeuvres, draft beer (or wine, they have a nice selection) and try the grilled options. And please, don't you dare to miss the desserts. The waiters will bring a tray showing the jewels of the day prepared by their Chef Patissier. Some evenings, you can come for the 6PM Happy Hour, with always some good music going on. Enjoy!

“Excellent music, nice environment.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

The place is worth visiting. The street is very calm and nice in the middle of the otherwise crazy city center. The inside environment is very cool and the music was excellent. Haven't tried the food but the beer was cold enough and the experience nice enough.

“Great food, amazing music but a "mean"glass of wine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

I go to Brassserie Rosario on Friday nights as often as I can as it is one of the few places in the world where you can see world class samba jazz for free in a wonderful warehouse type atmosphere. The food's pretty good too and if you only want snacks then the bruschetta and carpaccios are just the thing. The only thing which spoilt it for me last time was their wine by the glass which since the last time I went has become not only very mediocre in quality but minute in quantity (which seems to depend on which waiter you get as there is no line on the glass). It is obviously policy as the glass was not filled more after we complained but for R$13,00 you definitely expect more than a few sips at the bottom of a large glass. It won't stop me going back but it will definitely stop me recommending the wine option to any of the many friends I take to this place.

“great show and average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2012

In a lovely neighborhood, this is a great place to go and enjoy their live jazz show. The atmosphere is also superb. However the food does not impress

“Never disappointed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2011

Located around the corner from CCBB in the old part of Rio Centro, modern yet antique with a kitchen that always turns out a good meal - whether it be a sandwich or a full lunch. A grilled salmon arrived with a mound of gratin dauphinois and what looked like a whole head of steamed broccoli. Sauces could be improved. A good selection of desserts and don't forget the baked goods and paderia on the way out.
It doesn't pretend to be gourmet, but it's a solid choice in a country which is highly overpriced.
