“Renovations during our stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

The hotel is beautiful. The location is excellent. The staff is ok.
I didn´t like the fact that I was directed to one of the most expensive restaurants when I asked for a recommendation. Nor did I like renovations being made at the room next door. It got kind of noisy for a while. To top it all, they asked if they could send someone for my TV (which had no signal at the time). I said yes and it took them an hour to install a new receiver! Not nice...
Breakfast was ok. But for a hotel that is top rated there should be some scrambled eggs at least.
By the way, the pictures on TripAdvisor depicted a swimming pool. Unfortunately, they have a garden there now. The swimming pool is gone!

This is an excellent base in Parati. In the centre of the historical area, yet with close vehicular access so transfers and luggage movement is easy (most streets are closed to traffic and you see people having huge trouble hauling luggage over the huge cobblestones).

Interiors have been decorated with flair and imagination - sort of "Brazilian Hollywood" but in a nice way that fits in with the overall destination.

Breakfast is great, rooms are very comfortable. Junior suites are sort of in the attic and are this very quiet, but rooms facing the streets (where parties can go on and on) have double glazing and heavy shutters - just turn on the AC (a must have in this town) and you can sleep like a baby's in comfortable bedding. Bathrooms good too.

Reception staff are very helpful and there always seems to be an English speaker on staff, except after about 11pm until the morning.

The pool has been filled in - I understand there was some government approval drama - but that apart this hotel has everything you need for a very pleasant stay.

Thoroughly recommended.

Oh, I can verify they now have multi-Chanel Sky TV - it was installed while I was there.

We enjoyed two nights at this lovely Pousada. Highlights included the welcoming and warm (English speaking) staff, cosy rooms and common areas, plentiful breakfast, effective air con and central location in the historic quarter of the town.

My initial concerns, based solely on other TA reviews, were thankfully ill founded. This small local hotel is not trying to compete with the big internationals (non existent in this small town) so expectations should be appropriately adjusted!

The Pousada has a very homely resort feel which shines because of the friendly staff.

It was recommended to us by a friend and we'd gladly pass that recommendation on to others.

We ate at Casa do Fogo (Latin American) and Le Castellet (French), enjoyed a 5 hour a schooner tour (Neptuno II) through Paraty Tours and did the short walk up to the fort overlooking the town.

Transfers from São Paulo were with Paraty Tours and to Rio were with EZ Transfers, organised via Green Toad.

This is a well known hotel and location in the cirty. Although I've been to Paraty at least twice, this was my first experience staying in the historical part of the city.

Pros:
- Nice service (they do speak english and I heard some words in french)
- Good atmosphere and nice decoration
- Cozy/Comfortable rooms
- Fantastic location

Cons:
- Swimming pool is not available (although their website states so)
- Breakfast needs some improvement (fruits and bread were not often replaced)
- TV in the room had problems (too bad reception and few channels)
- WiFi reception was very weak (specially for the rooms in the upper floor)

As any part of Paraty, you must be aware of bugs during the night. Don't leave the window opened and turn on the A/C. They have also a good DVD collection if you want to watch a movie.

Room Tip: Junior suites are a good choice for couples (they are located in the upper floor with a nice view of...

I have been traveling to Brazil for the last 13 years. In August 2013, I had the opportunity to stay at Pousada Sandi. It was a wonderful experience. I am now spoiled. The service was excellent. The decor superb. I even heard employees talking to each other about how much they loved their job at Pousada Sandi. I loved staying here and cannot wait to come back.

Room Tip: I loved being downstairs so that I could hear the musicians on the street.

We very much enjoyed our time at Pousada do Sandi. It was centrally located, and the games room was great as I love to play cards. The only disappointment was that there was no pool.
Tip: DO NOT leave your windows open at night, as there are no screens and the Mosquitos tend to come in.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2012

For a pretty expensive and exclusive place, the TV, Wi-Fi and air con had problems. Because of the last, I slept with the windows open. I am still not sure where they came from, as the bites were strange and lasted for much longer than a normal mosquito's. Maybe they were in the bed. Totally not worth it.

Room Tip: There are better places to stay, same price or cheaper.
