“Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

I stayed at the Pousada Tropicana with my fiancée for two nights in August, and we would have loved to stay longer. The room was clean and comfortable, and very cozy on our first night when there was a big storm on the island. The staff was outstanding, and Waldeck provided an excellent historical tour of the island and coordinated a very relaxing massage for us at the Pousada. The breakfast was nice and overlooked the harbor, the first round of caipirinhas was on the house, and the location was terrific. Highly recommended!

What a tropical surprise!
I was in this pousada unfortunately only for a three days. It was a beautiful pousada with very friendly staff. It looked, beside tropical, also beautiful, and like one of the mebers of the staff said that the island was also beautiful helped too. It was very clean, breakfast was very good, and despite the fact that it was right in town, very quiet. Lovely place to stay. And regards to sweet camile.

Room Tip: I had a room all the way in the back on the first floor.

I have to start with the fact that Ilha Grande is great, especially with good weather. I experienced again a little bit of the Island feeling I had in Corn Island (Nicaragua). Just relaxing, hanging around, go by boat to the most beautiful beaches, hiking through nature, while still having good food and lounge places...
And Tropicana helped a lot in this. It is a perfect location, right at the beach, the rooms are ok (a really good price quality), and the staff is really helpful. We stayed in the end 4 days instead of 3 and got the last night for free, because of some confusion. He had to give us a ´little´ room which was still perfect and served all our needs. Also the staff is really friendly for helping you out for trips or how to come back and last but not least, they also give us the tip to eat at Don Mario, the best Steak Mignon Poivre I had since ages...
So yes I can recommend this island and this place for sure.

Clean, comfortable, quiet, great breakfast, great location. Couldn't go wrong. (Stayed May 2013; hostelling it all the way so this is the context - if you're a backpacker it's 4*) Stayed for 3 nights, nice and relaxing... shower was great aswell which is always nice! Highlight was the breakfast, watching everyone go by, the guy who rents the snorkelling gear setting up for 9, the dogs playing around, and listening to the sea, lovely view... No view with the room we had, but it didnt matter, you have to be up and out early to get the boating/hiking in, and you're out all day...

Lovely setting, just off the Ocean in Abraao, lush garden, friendly and helpful owner and breakfast view an Ocean view. What else you need?
Well, it could be repainted that is true, but overall it was clean and a great choice. Also value that this place has a differentiated pricing for single travelers (so you don't have to pay the full dbl occupancy price).

Very good place for stay some days in the island. The place is very clean and staff very helpfull.
The room is small, just a bed and a bench, with fridge, TV and AC. The bathroom is tiny, but very clean.
Location is the best in island. Near everithing in Abrahão's village.
Breakfast have fruits, juice, bread, ham, etc... you will do not think about food until night.
Tip for travelers: Ilha Grande is a destination for foreigners, so don't expect cheap prices. From food to places to stay, prices are high for Brazilian's standards.

The hotel needs a drastic renovation, especially the bathrooms and the breakfast room. The entrance is quite disappointing, the internet doesn't really work, if it rains (what can happen quite often and for many hours) you will not have electricity since this hotel is not provided with a generator, as some other hotels around do. The staff is nice but not very professional, breakfast is ok but not every day, in general I believe that is not the best place to stay for the money you pay.
