I arrived at the 18 room boutique hotel in Buzios to be greeted by Andrea, the lovely manager of Martin Pescador. My bags were taken down many steep steps to my room, which was understated simple elegance, bare stone floors with a double bed raised on a platform & a divine sea view .

The first morning was bright blue sky & I walked up & down the beach side stepping the tide. Got caught out on the way back from lunch, the biggest prawn salad I have ever had!

Lie by the pool under Palm trees swaying in the wind & watch the birds fluttering by in all the colours of the rainbow, as children splash about in the pool.

Smell the sweet scent of freshly mown grass while watching the sunset in a back drop of acres of crimson sky, lying on a white leather mattress of a four poster bed draped with white linen over looking the sea...

Explore the town & beaches of Buzios by a short taxi ride or hop on the local bus for a couple of reals. Beware of the many biting insects though, especially if you react to bites, as I do! The fridge/freezer is very noisy but you get used to it after a couple of nights.

It's a very relaxed informal atmosphere, there were a few storms while I was there. It was like watching fireworks, with the thunder & lightening dancing over the ocean in different shades of white..

The hotel has been recently painted white and the garden is in good shape. Ordinary rooms with a nice bed, but no extras (TV with 3 channels, old fridge, ac noisy and ugly, ceiling ventilator very noisy and old, no art on the walls). Nice swimming pool - sufficient for bathing and jumping in. Breakfast was every morning the same, meal service on order was very kind, but not very good organized, nor even cheap. Hotel is recommendable only with car, at least during high season (waiting time for the taxi up to 1 hour) Driving time to the centre 15 min. No beach, but very nice view over the sea. During low sea walking along the properties to the harbour. Walking distance to the closest beach (Geriba, very nice) 20 min. The hotel could do much better with a little bit of management skills and leading abilities for the staff (for example cleaning the windows or the glass table - obviously nobody feels responsible. Lamps old and broken, would be not a big deal to replace them. Guests pay expensive daily rates and expect some beauty for that. A hammock on the terrace instead of cheap plastic chairs or some art could improve the charme as well. After all the hotel is ok as an ordinary one with a nice view over the sea but far too expensive for what it offers.

Wow! My wife and I just got back to the States from a long trip through 5 countries in South America. We travelled with my brother and his wife.

Our favorite country was Brazil, our favorite location was Buzios, and our favorite hotel was the Martin Pescador Boutique Hotel.

While the hotel is relatively small (19 rooms) and boutiquey, the 4 of us were blown away by service, the food, and most of all, the gorgeous setting, right on the waterfront. The employees went out of their way to treat us like royalty.

We stayed in the House (3 bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, plasma TV) which is a 2-story duplex home connected to the main hotel building. What a bargain for us 2 couples!! Plenty of space, lots of privacy, and the 8 days we spent passed in a flash. The staff served breakfast in our House every morning, and we enjoyed watching the sun set from the "crow's nest" balcony on the second floor of the House.

Hotel has all the amenities including swimming pool, sauna, free internet (wireless), breakfast buffets, pool table, waterfront lounge, poolside bar, terrific food, etc etc. What we loved was the location - away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown.

We did go downtown a few times (about 5 minute buggy ride) for dinner and drinks, but we really felt at home on the property. The property is walking distance (5 minutes) along the beach to a new hip and trendy development which has shops and many fine restaurants.

Our favorite beach was Tartaruga (Turtle) Beach, which was about a 10-15 minute walk, or 5 minute ride by buggy. We highly recommend you rent a buggy. Buzios has 20+ beaches and lots of stuff to see.

We highly recommend this hotel and will be back next December for sure.

Hotel is at beginning of Buzios peninsula so a bit out of Buzios town. Is about £5 in taxi as there is nowhere decent in the area to eat/drink. Although you can use the little mini buses on the road which come every 2 mins for about 50P. However we had a great room with amazing views of the bay, right on the beach with loads of chairs, lounges to sit and watch the sun go down so you can get drinks at the bar or just keep some drinks in your fridge.
One complaint was that because it is on the beach, loads of trees and grass there are a few ants & lizards around if that isn't your thing.
Would recommend hiring a beach buggy to get around in as its a nice way to see all the beaches in the area.
All in all great value and ideallic location for relaxing romantic getaway.

My girlfriend and I just spent 5 nights at Martin Pescador Boutique Hotel in Buzios. The hotel was everything as advertised and represented. Prior to booking the rooms, we did some research on the Internet and via Trip Advisor and other travel sites. We were looking for something that would be private, with good food, and beachfront. Service quality was also important to us. After the research, we decided to book this hotel and we were very happy we did!

Terrific staff, very helpful with everything and friendly. We don't speak Portuguese, but there were a few members of the staff who spoke fluent English and they were able to make our stay easier and more fulfilling. We ate dinner 3 of the nights on the property and the Chef, Jorge, really knows how to cook. He make some delicious seafood crestions with fresh local fish and vegetables, and the food was as good as we have had at a fine restaurant.

We were blessed with nice, sunny weather, so we were able to sample 3 diffrerent beaches during our week. Our favorite was Tartaruga, which was a short walk from the hotel. We also had 2 evenings eating at restaurants at the new retail development called Porto de Barra, which is a renovated pier about a 5 minute walk along the beach from the hotel.

Our rooms were clean, air conditioned, with incredible views of the water. Free WiFi was a plus, esp since we just spent $17 per night for Wifi at another hotel in Rio. We also enjoyed a couple of quiet evenings at the hotel's candle-lit lounge on the water with nice music, comfortable couches, and too many capirinhas! :))

All in all this was a wonderful stay which we will not soon forget. We would highly recommend this hotel.

A very comfortable but modern hotel with an amazing romantic setting with views of the bay. This hotel is well managed and maintained making it a very satisfying place to visit. The staff are particularly helpful. Come here is you want to relax, but stay clear if you are looking for a more hectic break . Don't forget to hire a buggy to tour the Island. The hotel has a well respected reputation on the Island and you can see why.

We stayed at Martin Pescador for four nights on our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The views from the room and the pool were beautiful and we watched some amazing sunsets. The room was small but great. The centre of town was a taxi ride away, although during the day and in the early evening we would get the mini buses that run regularly along the main road for 2 Reais- bargain! The staff were very friendly and really helpful when we asked for some assistance organising transport to Rio.
