“Fantastic stylish boutique hotel, loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

Definitely trade up for a room with water views and balcony. Absolutely sensational. The smaller and we thought more stylish sister to Casas Brancas. Amazing pool, views and breakfasts. It's still so close to everything so we did not eat at their restaurant for lunch or dinner. There are a few stairs but if you like a nice walk after dinner it's welcomed. They are through Casas Brancas anyway so the walk is a pleasure not a chore.
We loved the location as its halfway between the town and the beaches plus still close to many eating options.
The room was a little small but as its so well appointed we didn't mind. Plus the bathroom was big, modern and stylish.

The abracadabra pousada is a very simple hotel with a lot of epic stuff like: A good dvd collection, good restaurant(but kinda pricey,) pool, and more.
Although it does not have a very good location because its not very near to any beach or the rua das pedras.
The rooms are pretty good because they have a tv, a dvd player, and a lot of anti mosquito stuff(you will need it.)
The restaurant is very good but quite pricey. Its quite a clean place.
I recommend you to look at the dvd collection from the hotel( my movie recommendation would batman:the dark knight)

We stayed for six days in December at Abracadabra and agreed it was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed! We were in room 15 with an amazing view of the bay from the balcony. The room was large and well decorated with a comfortable bed and a quiet air conditioner. The pool area is clean with lots of seating options by the infinity pool. The breakfast provides many yummy options including fresh fruit smoothies, omelets, bacon and sweet pastries. Each staff member went out of their way to make our experience amazing.

The pousada is conveniently located within a five minute walk of centro, but note you must walk through Casas Brancas and navigate 70 stairs. Within Centro there are many shops and restaurants. In addition, there is a nice beach within a 15 - 20 minute walk. You do not need a vehicle while staying at this location to access food options.

Room Tip: Room 15 had afternoon sunshine and a private balcony to enjoy the view over the bay.

This boutique hotel is an absolute gem. I stayed here for 4 nights and it was very peaceful and set in the most wonderful location. The staff were always on hand to help. The pool and terrace area were certainly the best parts for me but there was absolutely nothing to complain about. It is an easy walk to both town and the beautiful beaches. I would certainly recommend Abracadabra.

It's ironic that I call it tranquil, as Buzios is also a good party town on certain days, but Abracadabra is a magical place when relaxing during the day by the poolside, and being looked after by the very friendly barman (Manuel) who makes it a point to make sure that you are well looked after!
All the staff are in fact very friendly, even though there was a language barrier with some, as we spoke no portuguese. I've stayed in some great places around the world, but this is certainly at the top for simple comforts, and not to forget the very wholesome and hearty breakfast served every morning, along with the array of fresh local fruit.
It's conveniently located, as it's a nice short stroll to the town centre, and easy enough to get to for the bus from Rio (wait for a cab on the street corner from the bus stop!).

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor to get a good view over the bay from your room, although most of th...

My wife and I just spent 6 days at Abracadabra on our Honeymoon and were very pleased with our stay. We stayed in room 18 & highly recommend it, if available. It is a corner unit overlooking the pool & has a specacular view of the bay. The location is great & is an easy, beautiful 5 minute walk to the town center along the water. I never felt that safety was an issue in Buzios, so don't be too concerned with that. If you are considering Casas Brancas or Villa D'Este and location is a consideration, just know that these 3 hotels are literally right next to each other on the hillside (ok, so one structure separates Abracadabra & Villa D'Este).

The pool was recently renovated, making it an infinity pool. It's an incredible pool area with plenty of comfortable seating & amazing views. Bar service was great & Sylvana makes a mean caipirinha. Breakfast is served until 10:30 (great for semi-late risers), is included in the price. It has just about every pastry you could want, along with fresh fruit/juices/champagne, and they'll also make you eggs/omelets to order.

Office staff/reception was very friendly, spoke english and it seemed like our room was cleaned even if we stepped out for 5 minutes. You also have access to Casas Brancas (there is no direct path from Abracadabra to Bardot walkway, so you HAVE to go through Casas Brancas if you're headed into town). While Casas Brancas is absolutely beautiful, I'd go with Abracadabra for my money. The finishes will be nicer at C.B., but you can get a deluxe room at Abracadabra with stunning views for half the price of a basic room at C.B. The rooms and bathrooms are somewhat basic at Abracadabra, but very clean.

If you are a business traveler, you should probably know that WiFi really only works around the pool area. Still, if you're a business traveler and have to work at the pool, I don't feel too bad for you. There is some noise from the clubs on the weekends, but you'll have that same issue at any of the hotels on the hillside overlooking the bay. Download a white noise maker app on your iPhone or iPad. It works wonders.

Essentially, I would absolutely recommend Abracadabra & hope to visit Buzios again. It's a special place...

Room Tip: Room 18 is a corner room that overlooks the pool & has a balcony with stunning views.

Spent 4 nights here. Nice boutique hotel. Amazing view from the pool and breakfast area. Food was good too with free champagne available at breakfast. Hotel was very reasonably priced. The room we had was dark however altough very spacious. Nice bathroom etc. Quite a noisy room and in general the sound proofing was poor. Unfortunately there was construction work on when we were there, yet the management did not inform us or indeed do anything to placate us. This was very poor and would make me wonder about their policy on customer service. On the postive side, the hotel is very unusual and stands out as different. Great location near the town. Lovely reading areas too. The value for money of the rooms means it deserves 4/5. It is noisey though!

Room Tip: There are rooms with sea views but you are near the niteclub so it is a tradeoff.
