“One of the best parts of our entire vacation in Brazil!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

Sweeping 360 degree views of the Buzios coast from our balcony made this hilltop home a real treat for our family. It was nice to be able to visit the town/beaches during the day/evening but then relax away from the crowds at night. We all loved the lush plants and the acerola cherries that were growing on Lucy's property. Lucy is a native English speaker from London (also fluent in Portugese) whose been living in Buzios for many years. She really helped us understand Brazilian culture in a way we probably could not have otherwise. Every morning she made us a top notch breakfast of local fruits, meats, cheeses, eggs, juice and these wonderful warm cheese biscuit things that seem to be very popular in Brazil. (Lucy makes really good ones) After Breakfast we would walk down from Casa De Luz to the beach just a short walk from the house. There are two great beaches there where you can swim with sea turtles, work on your tan, watch the locals, rent boats, and order food right on the beach. You can get Caprihainas there too, but if your going to drink, I'd recommend ordering something from Lucy's husband Christiano. He made the best Caprihainas we had anywhere in Brazil. He's a bartender at a great restaurant in town and it shows. He can serve them up to your room if you like. :) We usually went down to town at night, things really pick up at night in Buzios. and it can get very lively with dancing and live music, but it can also be a great place for a quiet romantic walk along the water. Lucy recommended a nice restaurant and we all enjoyed it. The shopping is great but watch those Brazilian prices, if your careful you can get some good deals. There was a big (American) football game while we were there and we had no problem getting the game on Lucy's Satellite Dish. She was extremely accommodating. All in all I'd give the place 5 stars. Its a charming home away from home and a welcome respite from the harsher realities of international travel.

Casa da Luz is one of the better places I´ve stayed. It´s beautiful, cozy, clean, elegant. Lucy and Cristiano are very kind and great, who always have precious tips and a very good sense of humor. I loved to stay there and rightly recommend. The view is so beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast is delicious, fresh, prepared with love by Lucy. Can´t wait to return!

Casa de Luz is a lovely little place with arguably one of the best views in Buzios. It is about a 30 minute walk from the center of town, but it’s pretty easy to just take a bus, or rent a buggy as we did. Lucy was a really delightful host, she was even willing to take the time to teach us how to drive a stickshift car, which neither of us had ever driven before. Every morning she makes breakfast whenever you want, and is ready to point you to one of Buzios’s 25 beaches, or advise you on the many other activities available on the islandtown. She knows all the best restaurants and bars in town. Lucy really makes you feel like her house is your house. We had a relaxing and fun couple days in Buzios, and couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to stay.

Very nice and relaxing place! Rooms are comfy and clean and have a fantastic view on both sides of the peninsula. Lucy, the owner, is very nice and knowledgeable about the region and serves amazing breakfasts (apart form the fresh fruit and granola, I love her cheese balls and pineapple cake!). It's a 5-10 min walk to lovely little Ferraduhina beach and a few more minutes to the long Geriba beach. It's easier to go to Buzios town centre by car or boogie (10min) or bus than on foot, but staying on this hill is so relaxing that it's definitely worth it. Plus, you can still hear the waves and there are supermarkets, great bakeries and a little town centre in Geriba as well, which is a 15-min walk or 5min drive away. If you want to be close to the beaches and amenities, but enjoy some tranquility and not be in the middle of all other tourists, that's the place to be.

The view from balcony both sun rise and sunset are impressive. Lucy is very friendly and accommodated me around Buzios by herself as I traveled alone. The place is cosy. Location may be concerned for person who do not like walking or you have choices of taxi. It's good for work out if you like. it is not far from Geriba beach.
