“poor,wet,and smelly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2011

do not be fooled by the photos of the website, the rooms are unadorned, and equipment incomplete.non's wardrobe, musty smell, the air conditioner like a noisy old tratcor. the structure is divided into two parts, a hostel and hotel (pousada), I chose the pousada because I felt nice and warm the photos .as soon as I arrived and before that to take me in the room the hotel manager asked me the entire balance of five days of my stay,1400 Real(625 euro-875$) so I could not leave without losing all the money. the pousada is worse than the hostel and costs much more , 280 Real (125 euro-175$) per day, even it was carnival time, for the level of quality offered it was a robbery. the pool and garden are not bad, but there were only two sun chairs, broken and dirty. Breakfast :ridiculous. staff adequate for the clients of the hostel, for a posada from 125 € -175$ per day would expect more
I hope that the direction of the chain El Misti read my review and be ashamed.

We stayed at El Misty Buzios in September this year after having had it recommened by friends. It was really a great place, a very cosy little pousada where you really feel at home and wellcome. It has a great breakfast with fresh fruit and freshly pressed juice along with the usual bread etc. A nice little pool in the garden where you can hang out , allthough the beaches are within walking distance. The staff was very nice and quite helpfull in guiding us around to the best sites and restaurantes. We will be staying her again next year as we plan another trip to Brazil in near future. .

From the moment we arrived, we knew this was nothing like el misti Botafogo or Copacabana.
The rude owner kept us in the reception/computer room/breakfast room for 20 minutes because she didn't have any information on our reservation and 50% previous pay
After calling the other Misti looking for "her money", I showed her my dates of payments, but it wasn't untill I looked in the computer for my credit card statement that she asked me: Did you pay with VISA???And when I said yes, she said OK, OK...but didn't even ask for my card...and finally gave us the keys to the rooms
The worst about this hostel is the danish owner and also the brazilian receptionist's attitude: rude, arrogant, no customer service nor friendly environment
The breakfast, nothing like the other mistis, no eggs, cereal, granola ,flan, cake...just bread, jam & cheese and some fruit.
The kitchen, just one small fridge, no microwave containers, no pitchers, tiny little glasses, and the dishes facing the TV room, not inside the kitchen cabinets, that were empty.
Supermarket far, walking, then bus or taxi
No free phone calls, only their taxi, otherwise R$1 to call another one
No music, no bar
Lots of rules and restrictions, not genuine hospitality
The poo, tiny, dark and as cold as the staff

Stayed at El Misti for one week in one of the private room. Excellent standard for a hostel, really good breakfast ( the oranges for the sucos is squeezed in front of you ), strong coffee and it has a great littl pool to cool down in. THere is a real balance between the dormns and the private rooms and its quite quiet during the day as everyone is out at one of the many Buzios beaches. The nightlife really revolves around the centre of BUzios ( recommend Billabong bar ) so again was not the most sociable hostel, however everyone is very friendly and helpful. if you are looking for a chilled out hostel where you can relax, escape Rio, and general not do much and go to the beach, then this is the hostel for you. Not recommended if you want to find a mad place to party. I would recommend this place to both couples travelling for the private rooms, and for single travellers for the dorms.

The Pousada itself is ok, but everything needs to be repaired.
I stayed in a room with a broken fun and an a/c really noisy, what made impossible for me and my partner to have any rest.
The breakfast probably was a kind of joke, and the pousada´s owners and the girl at the reception were a part dissappointment. They were very rude and arrogant. No appologies at all.
I extremely not reccomend for anyone to stay at this place.
