WOW, where to even begin . . . we had the ultimate pleasure of staying at ‘heaven on earth’ aka Cachoeira Inn in January as part of our honeymoon in South America (we sincerely apologize for the delay in writing this review, but we have so many wonderful things to say that we could never find the time). Before coming to Buzios, we visited Buenos Aires, Peru and Rio and for the final leg of our trip we were looking for some honeymoon R & R. So, we booked our stay at the Cachoeira Inn based solely on Tripadvisor reviews which all seemed too good to be true. Well, rest assured that all of the reviews are 110% accurate and the Cachoeira Inn is not too good to be true, it's better! In fact, reviews barely do this place justice because it is something you just have to experience yourself to truly appreciate!
From the moment we arrived we were greeted with the warm smiles of Susan and Matt who immediately made us feel right at home. Within minutes we had the most amazing caipirinhas in hand and a decadent spread of tuna, meats, cheeses, fruit, crackers, etc. while relaxing at an outdoor dining table and getting to know Susan and Matt. From there, our stay continued to just get better by the minute. We were blessed with perfect sunny weather (after non-stop rain in Rio) and actually had the entire place to ourselves during our stay! We stayed in the Rhine Falls suite which was beautiful, but all of the rooms have their individual charm so you can’t go wrong with any of them. The Southeast Asian inspired decor and abundance of waterfalls make you feel like you are in the most incredible tropical oasis, and there is an intimacy about the place that you could never find elsewhere. Not to mention the amazing breakfast spread and personalized attention you get from Susan and Matt, who genuinely care about making sure their guests have the trip of a lifetime and know everything there is to know about Buzios and all the activities and hot-spots.
Susan and Matt gave us the best recommendations on what restaurants to eat at in town every night and were always there to check up on us and whip out another caipirinha! At their recommendation, we also decided to book a private 4-hour boat trip visiting several of the surrounding beaches which was another highlight. The boat captain cooked some of the freshest seafood we’ve ever had right on the deck and the trip was an incredible experience. Susan and Matt also arranged to have a masseuse come and give us the most relaxing massages out on the deck at sunset! These activities (as well as kayaking to the neighboring beach) are a must!
Honestly, words alone can’t even do this place justice. We’ve traveled all over the world and when anyone asks what our favorite place is, without hesitation, we yell out "the Cachoeira Inn in Buzios!" My wife literally got teary-eyed when we had to leave and say goodbye to Susan and Matt because we knew that nothing can ever compare to this place and the amazing time we had there. Susan and Matt are the most enthusiastic, hospitable, generous and fascinating people and even though we were only there for 3 nights, we felt like we had known them forever and developed a long-lasting friendship!
So, if you have gotten this far in reading this review and you are debating where to stay in Buzios or whether this place is for you, don't be crazy! Don't waste any more of your time and contact Susan and Matt immediately! We’ve told all our friends and family that they MUST come here and there is no doubt in our minds that we will be back as soon as possible! Much love to the Cachoeira Inn!!
