Búzios, about 176km away from Rio de Janeiro, is a unique destination for some quiet and really great holidays. Not just for families, but also for couples - I can really imagine it as great honeymoon destination.
The city has a wealth of restaurants and bars to choose from, the promenade is a beatiful setting for lovely walks. There are shops and little markets, and apart from that excellent beaches, the most of them with clear waters, some wide some small coves, it's possible to view turtles and a lively sea life, so it's good for snorkeling.
As far as prices are concerned, it's not a budget place, but nevertheless you can have nice holidays and not spend a fortune here, if you choose a self catering holiday tipe.
One of the most impressive features of Búzios is that even though it has been a place where people go on holidays since the 1960s it has not lost it's charm, there aren't any high rise buildings, people are really charming and nice. It's not a place for the beer fan, for those who like huge crowds of teens. It's really a great place for all who enjoy some nice, quiet and memorable holidays.
