We stayed for a long week-end at the Pestana Angra dos Reis

The location is beautiful but the service is extremely poor

This is typical in Brazil where, many times, the stars do not reflect the real quality of the establishment

Our TV did not worked for three days and, as much as they tried to fix it they could not make it...

There is no turnaround service in the evening; I don't mind about that but every supposed five start hotel should, at least check, the towels before you go to bed

The room was OK though the hot water was coming and going as the mixer was not working properly

The service itself is OK but for the price you pay you expect the personnel with extra professionalism (this is what I have always noticed by travelling in dozens of countries in the last 20 years...)

On the other hand, and this not personnel's fault ,everyone is wearing the hotel polo shirt all day long, some of them with jeans, other with shorts, someone with tennis shous others with "havaiannas' shoes....and they do not change for the whole day

What is really out of this world are the prices : 19R$ for a caipirina is the price you pay in the best hotel in Sao Paulo but for a service completely different (in US$ terms this is not a big value but for Brazil this is a lot of money, believe me...)

Same price for other stuff such as bottled water which was extremely expensive; for ex the SPA is really nice but the cost for a simple massage is about 50% more expensive than what we normally pay in a best location in SPaulo

Food was OK altough we had meat one evening and we had to send it back as was as hard to eat as a piece of wood

They changed for a filet and then we were OK....

Overall, I believe that paying a total of 2,200 Reais for 48 hours is far too much money for a location like this one and for the service provided by the hotel

In Brazil you can find much better places to spend a long week-end for far less money

I was at Pestana Angra twice, and the last was in August 2008.

The place is beautiful and has spectacular service. The food is also very good and appropriate price. The bungalows, all of them, are very spacious and well cared, and some have spectacular views.

The beach is not very good, but it is unique, with good structure.

In any place you will find beautiful photos, because everything is very beautiful.

I recommend and believe that few hotels in Brazil are as amazing as this.

“The Best Ever!!!!”

I had a weeding there in november/08 and it was spetacular! The hotel (Karla, I should say) organized everything. They did an awesome job and it was over my expectations. WE had a great time. Food was amazing! Chef Marcelo did a great job with his suggestions. Every meal we had was delicious.
We were in a group of 10 people and everyone of us loved the place. The acommodations are pretty good, staff outstanding and the views could not be better.
Totally recommended!

This hotel is amazing! We got the bungalow just in front of the beach wich is the most beautiful bungalow of the hotel..you have a huge terrace with a sofa and a net where you can just chill and read a book and we had a jacuzzi too. And the view....WHAT A VIEW...!! you can imagine because there no other thing in fron beside the the beach and some island soo if you can spend money its well worth it!! The food is not excellent but is not bad too. Its ok. The rooms were very spacious, high ceiling, huge sofa, we had a sauna beside the toilet. The service there is impecable. The pool is quite small but who want a pool when you have the a private beach in front of you. We rented a private boat and I recommend everyone to rent one because its just beautifull to see all those island and mini island and virgin beach...Just excellent!!

If you are going to this hotel I am jealous of you!!:P

“Nice Brazilian getaway”

We wanted to take a trip out of Rio for a few days to relax. A travel agent recommended the Pestana and we decided to book. This is a beautiful location, all inclusive dinner was surprisingly good and a great deal considering there were no other options. We were worried about this and the lack of variety, but this should not be a concern at all.

The views are amazing, the setting is idyllic and the boat tour that we took really made our getaway worth it. I do agree that the bungalows could be updated, but considering what you are paying, i wouldn't expect a 5 star resort.
