“Forget Nova Friburgo, go to LUMIAR!”

We went to Nova Friburgo thinking it would be a good getaway to the country from Rio. It isn't. It's got lots of cars and shops, not close to nature. We took a short bus ride to LUMIAR and stayed at the Pousada Flor Do Mato, which was amazing. The woman who runs it, Telma, speaks English and was really great. Lumiar is safe and very beautiful - hikes, walks, great small town square.
