“Overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2013

Be careful, the stretch where the hotels are situated is unfit for swimming! So you walk for 2 km or take tours.
Definitively there are better places in Brazil and for the prices they charge I actually would say: take the trip abroad for better infrastructure and more reasonable prices.

“Nice little town, crowded beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

If you go to Maragogi it is worth to stretch it north and visit the pedestrian center of Porto Galinhas and if you have 2 hours to take the buggy tour to see 4 beaches in the area. Instead it is not worth to get in the crowd of the beach by the town. The food at the restaurant behind the beach is great.

“Normal Beach and abusive prices.. Just fame!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

I am used to go to the beaches in Ceara, and I went to this one when I traveled to Recife and I have to say there is more name and fame than the reality shows. The beach is really very beautiful with long sand, but you dont have a place to stay at all because the chairs is really abusive prices. Just to sit you have to pay like 50,00 reais, and you are obligated to consume a french fries for this price if you don't want to go away. This was very disappointed for me as all the beaches in Ceara I never saw such thing. I just wanted to enjoy the beach consuming things with fair price. But they charge much money for a simple and not so good food. The beach is very beautiful.

“Crowded but very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

We enjoyed our stay in Porto de Galinhas a lot. Prices were affordable comparing with other places in Brazil. There was a lot of handicraft to buy presents for the family. The beach gets really small when the tide is high and crowded but it was so cool to simply sit, chill and get people to bring us drinks :)
When the tide is small you can see the natural pools which are very pretty.

“Primary Attraction in Porto, should always be on top of the list!! But beware……‎”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

Obviously, if you go there when the tide is high, it’s a pretty normal beach, like millions of others, but ‎when the tide is low, (make sure to check the times before venturing out there) the stunning natural ‎pools are a sight out of this world, all the superlatives plus plus plus, defo one of the highlights of ‎brazil, a total paradise for photographers, what an experience!!‎

Two things to be aware of;‎

The Jangada ride to the pools is A, heavily overpriced, as usual in Brazil, a total rip off, B, more ‎importantly, they rush you thorough it and try to get you out of there ASAP. The amazing experience ‎is marred by the guides who keep on pestering you to move on. While the truth of the matter is, if you ‎come early enough in low tide, you can just walk across in the low level waters, even with a big ‎professional camera to the where all the people are roaming around in the natural pools. You can take ‎in the sights unhurried and see much more on your own pace. Save you Jangada experience to one of ‎the many other beaches in the area, instead of supporting rip offs and bad service.‎

Beware of the touts that try and drag you to their chairs on the beach, promising you it’s for free, but ‎then insist you order a main meal and if not, they charge you 40 reals per chair. Our lovely tout tried to ‎add a parking fee, since we parked on the road near their chairs. I got to take off my hat for the ‎originality, nice try. Basically, when they give you the bill, check every line, you are sure to find some ‎skeleton there.‎

Nature wise, awesome, an un-forgettable experience.‎
