“Surprisingly elegant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013 via mobile

Great hotel with a helpful and multi lingual staff. Beautiful hotel (if not maze like) with a gorgeous view of the waterfall. Great pool and fitness center round out the package. A little inconvenience to get to the city since you have to wait for the hotel shuttle to the front gate if the park. Definitely recommend!!

Wow, what a location, what a hotel !!

We enjoyed a 'falls facing' room at the hotel,....waking up to the dawn breaking over the falls,....unbelievable !!

The hotel is the only hotel in the park reserve, this also gives you exclusive access before the park opens and the hoards of tourists arrive !! We could have a leaisurly breakfast and have a gentle walk down the main path to the 277 falls !!

The views were simply awesome, with plenty of excellent planned and safe positions to obtain the most excellent photographic memories.

Our honest reccomendation is therefore to stay at the hotel, whikle it is slightlky more expensive than outside, it 'IS' worth it !!

That said, the hotel is part of the 'Orient-Express' group, so service is 'second-to-none', the staff are attentive without being intrusive, around the pool area there are regular deliveries of cold refreshing towels, little tasters of chilled water melon drinks, and more.

The 'A la carte' restuarant is always popular and would reccomend that a table be booked in advance of your travels. That said, the alternative buffet restuarant was also execellent.

#we also booked an executive transfer, for R$90 each way,...trust me,...well worth it. If you also manage to obtain 'Francisco (Chico)' as your guide/driver, you will be most pleased too !

Nothing was too much trouble, the hotel even laid on a voltage regulator for us (220v) as while 110v works in most cases, my partner's hair dryer was challenged !! Bravo to the hotel !!

A great location, for a great attraction,.... you cannot be disapointed !!

Room Tip: Ask for a 'falls facing' room,....well worth it (1105-1113)

We spent 4 nights in the beautiful hotel, with very friendly staff. The pool area was beautiful and the breaksfasts were amazing. We were there for New Years and they put out a really great spread for the dinner. It was nice and close to the walkways to the falls and once the park closed in the evening to the public, the hotel guests ahd the park and the falls all ourselves. No crowds like there are duing the day. I would highly recommend staying here. There is a shuttle that goes through to the park gates where you can then visit the fabulous bird santuary or take a bus to the town.

Hotel das Cataratas really does epitomise luxury, with excellent facilities and first class service. Our room was beautifully furnished and perfectly appointed, overlooking Iguassu National Park. Which is what makes this hotel so special. Acknowledged it may not be the cheapest, but it is definitely worth the extra as it's the only hotel inside the Brazilian side of the park.

After we arrived, following a day exploring the park in Argentina, we checked in and were given a concise but useful guided tour of the hotel. The concierge recommended that we take in the sunset at the top of the hotel's tower... we did just that and what an amazing view. Because of the hotel's location, you can also venture into the park before the crowds arrive.

In the poolside restaurant, we sampled a Brazilian BBQ on the evening before the following morning's breakfast buffet which were a veritable feast, with plenty of healthy and indulgent options.

In terms of other facilities, the pool provided a great place to relax and unwind and the hotel had a HSBC ATM and fully equipped business centre, as well as tennis courts in the extensive gardens.

You can't fail to fall in love with the falls and staying here makes it an even more unforgettable experience. You won't be disappointed.

I didn't stay at the hotel. I just went for lunch with friends as there are no decent places to eat in Foz. The food was standard buffet grub, very well done for that neck of the woods, service was slightly off-standard for a hotel this calibre. I had to send back my Bloody Mary cocktail as the bartender clearly had no idea how to make one. I had to ask several times for a napkin and some condiments. The bill had to be done 4 times as it was wrong! Despite all this, the stunning building and impeccable landscape around the hotel are well worth the visit since most hotels in the area are relatively sub-standard. The hotel is clearly designed for massive tour groups, so it lacks personal charm as the lobby looks like suitcases exploded all over it.

My only regret is not having more time to spend in this lovely hotel, but after all you come here to see the amazing falls. I stayed here as a member of a small tour group and it could not have been a better location - you can even see the falls from the front of the hotel + it's an easy walk to get close. If you make an early start for a short drive over the border you'll also beat the crowds on the train to Devils Gorge on the Argentine side.

The room offers everything you'd expect. The pool was heated, so on a late afternoon in late July it was warmer inside the water than outside. Nice cocktails from the poolside bar and excellent diner buffet, including very tasty beef filet from the carvery. Great breakfast buffets too, starting 6:30am. Coffee, tea and biscuits at reception for earlier starts.

Business center with plenty of PCs to use for free.

A must stay for anyone going to Foz. It is expensive and they require payment at booking, but it is well worth the money. The property provides a wonderful environment in which to relax and the rooms are beautifully decorated, however, the greatest feature is access to the falls when no other people are allowed into the park or falls area. We stayed two nights and both evenings we spent strolling the paths of the falls seeing very few others. Wildlife was abundant.

The room comes with an excellent breakfast and the restaurant serves a nice dinner.

We arose before sunrise and climbed to the top of the hotel bell tower to see the sunrise. We then jogged on the desolate roads and paths around the hotel and park.

The service at the hotel was excellent.

Room Tip: Select a room with a view - it is worth it!
