“tlec,tlec,tlec”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

This is a rather big hotel (over 100 rooms and over 200 seats in the restaurant) with average rates and this brings along a stream of problems since it is very popular with agencies that run mass tourism, loud coach parties and the like. The floor in the aisles is tile and so you can hear the tlec/tlec/tlec of the wheels of the suitcases being pulled. When a large group is leaving early in the morning (and this is not uncommon) it is impossible to keep on sleeping. Also, the breakfast room gets crowded and queues are inevitable and, still worse, you may have to wait for food, cutlery, plates and cups to be replaced. In our first morning there, we arrived for breakfast just after one of those groups had left and there were just two girls to take care of everything, which of course they were unable to do in spite of their efforts. It is located a little far away from city center in a quiet neighboorhood, but this can be a problem if you do not have a car and depends on taxis or on the tour agency in the hotel lobby. If your room faces the swimming pool you may have to cope with people talking loudly late in the evening in the bar next to the pool (we had to call the reception and complain). On the good side it must be said that the room is large and neat, the swimming pool good (although I guess that there are other things far more interesting to do in Foz do Iguaçu....) and the staff nice and attentive. Internet is not free, although cheap. In short, if you are lucky enough to be there when no large groups are, then this hotel is good value for money. But, unfortunately, this is not likely to happen.....

Room Tip: Avoid those facing the pool.

We booked this hotel via agency in Rio, Brazil. It is located a little far away from city center and shopping center which is not accessible to many attraction without using a tour agency in lobby for taxi. The agency, of course, charges more for its service. But you can visit Iguazu Falls in both countries by ourselves and save some money. The room is much larger than in Rio's. But the floor is tile and reflects sound. If your floor is well occupied, resident's traffic may keep you awake. Nice breakfast serving.

This used to be a Best Western Hotel. The key cards still have the logo on it. Was recommended by a friend (who I will strangle twice over when I next see him!)

My list of BAD:
-Poor Location.
-Staff although friendly, hardly spoke english
-Full of Coach Parties. The pool was full of screaming kids and groups of loud old folks.
-No currency exchange for GBP to Reals
-Internet was NOT free.
-Air Conditioning was bad.
-Had to pay for use of the safe in the room.
-The beds were so uncomfortable, was presented with top and bottom sheet and a very very faded bed cover. the pillows were stacked on a shelve in the open wardrobe
- you get two bars of soap and 2 small sachets of shampoo 2in1.
-The queues for Breakfast before 7 is scary!
-The hotel is very very run down like a dormitory.

-The Travel Agency (GALLI Travel) in the lobby, although friendly, did not really come across as honest. They try to sell you various packages when all you wanted was to go to the falls. Booked for the Gran Adventure with the Jungle travel on the Argentinian side. was told all slots for the day were fully booked on arrival and to get a refund on return. Which Galli did minus 4% credit card charges if you want cash back.( I did as it will be too late to check statements on my return to do anything.)...If you want the boat ride (not the 'Gran Adventure'), just book it with Jungle Travel when you arrive.

If you really want to stay here as a backpacker, the best way is to take the airport bus to Centro (R$2.65) then change in the terminal 'CENTRO' (do NOT leave the gates of the terminal) to bus 250 or 255. If you board the bus in the terminal, you don't have to pay again. yes... R$2.65!...works the same when you are going back to the airport.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor and pool facing.

The rooms were basic but clean and the breakfast had a nice spread. The only issue was breakfast is generally included in the rates but they open only at 6:40 in the morning and that is quite late by South American standards especially if you want to have morning tea/coffee before you set out for the tours. Service was nice, but be prepared to use your limited Portuguese or sign language. Only the reception speaks any English. But the biggest issue is though it is just a 15-20 minutes drive away from the airport and a 10 minute walk from a shopping mall (not advisable in the dark), the hotel is far from the town center and the falls. So unless you have your own car, you are basically stuck using the pool when your local tours are done.

i am used staying in 4 or 5 star hotels but this hotel was a unique experience, there was a covered hole in the wall that gave the impression that you where genuinly living on the street ! Needless to say that lack of pillows and a hard matress added to that special feeling ...and of course an alarm that was badly programmed and went off at 4.30 and 6 am in the morning .

I traveled in South America: Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile. At hotels, the 4 stars are well below European levels. Another general problem: very poor internet connection.
Watch your pockets in the street in Brasil.
Hotel is not so important, main is that it is very close to a marvel of nature: Iguassu Falls.
The staff are friendly and helpful, the room was a good size and clean.

Room Tip: preferably a room overlooking the pool

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

I agree with previous reviewers that there's not much to celebrate in this assembly-line hotel: nothing terrible, nothing memorable (except truly excellent caipirinhas served by the attractive pool). The room was large but without character, a little shabby (one shelf was broken), a view of nothing worth looking at, with excessive charges for things that should have been free (wifi, a lock for the room safe), a remarkably unfriendly front desk, an unremarkable restaurant (though the breakfast buffet was ample and satisfactory). Its location, along with many of the hotels in Foz do Iguacu, is a half-hour hike into the city along a pedestrian-unfriendly road. We stayed here with a group of friends and ended up having a good time (especially after we found the caipirinhas by the pool), but it was more in spite of the hotel than because of it.
