“Best restaurant in Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2011

Great french cuisine. Very traditional and charming, a romantic place perfect to take your girlfriend out for a special occasion. Very good wine choices. You should try the foie gras on the first course and the shrimps with herbs, absolutely delicious. It is the oldest restaurant in town, and it kept the same menu all true these years. The service is outstanding. Would definitely recommend it.

“Classic place, but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

It is a very classic place and exists since decades. Wealthier locals enjoy its classic atmosphere, but I think it is overpriced and old-fashioned.

“Ridiculously overpriced and old fashioned”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2009

With prices that would shame most restaurants on the Champs-Élysées, average food, and an old fashioned menu and setting this is one I wish I'd avoided.

While my food was pretty good, my girlfriend hated both her starter (a well below average french onion soup) and her main course (chicken, coated in a thick black tar). They serve the mains in a large dish beside your table which allows reheating for a second serving but this gimmick doesn't really add much and means you are dependent on waiters noticing if you want more. You also get a myriad of potatoes as sides - but no potato gratin and no vegetables - in a French restaurant!?!?

The decor and menu were so dated it's like I'd stepped back two decades to the 80s. Some might see this as part of it's charm but we were distinctly unimpressed.

In particular, what grates me most, is that I can't believe they are getting away with charging what they do - and that idiots like I are paying them. Brazil, while more expensive than the rest of South America, can serve you a MUCH better meal for a lot less in other restaurants...

Excelent food, good place but a little bit serious and a little bit expensive.
