... and STAY HERE!
My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in early Apr, 2006. We reallly didn't know what to expect (other than positive reviews we had read on TA), but I've never been more pleasantly surprised by a hotel. Check out the fotos!
Small hotel, but reasonably sized rooms -- BRAND NEW rooms. The whole hotel has been is is being renovated entirely -- not a new paint job -- but a complete gutting and refurb -- and it's being done with "class".
The breakfast was delightful -- plenty of hot items (eggs, bacon, etc.), pasteries, cereals, fresh fruits to choose from. Staff was delightful.
And ... it just doesn't get any better than the on-site tour company -- Triplice Tours run by Fernando. We are not generally much for tours -- more independent travellers. But since we arrived on the Argentine side, we needed arrangements to get to the hotel. Fernando himself met us at the airport -- an absolutely charming person (as is Carlos, his assistant). Because of potential problems at the border (especially the hassle of changing buses, etc.) we decided to take the "tour" to the Argentine side fo the falls. So very glad we did! Again, Fernando's help made everything so very smooth.
Only negative I can think of: there was only cold water at the sink in the bathroom (but plenty of hot in the shower) -- this was just a minor inconvenience -- actually more of a interesting cultrual difference from North America.
Just one more thing ... worth saying ... and this really is not an exaggeration ... I've never gotten more for the money than at the del Rey. Just under $40 USD for a beautiful room, a great breakfast, and Fernando on site.
