“Old Church with nice landscape.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

This church is placed in other city, named Lucena, far 30 min from Joao Pessoa by car usind road. Otherwise, you can go by car using the ferryboat from Cabedelo's Port. If church be closed, knock on the door. There will be a nice guy into to open it for you and tell you about history of the church. The church has baroque architecture and it was used to observe enemies that tried to invade Joao Pessoa.

“Beautiful old Church”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

The Nossa Senhora da Guia Church is located in Lucena, Paraiba, about one half hour's drive from Joao Pessoa, the state's capital. It was built around 1591 by Carmelite monks, and they say it has the largest altar made of limestone in all of Brazil.
It is still a working church, but is open for tourist visits. It also sits atop a cliff, giving a beautiful view of the beaches of lucena below.
If you're in the Northeast of Brazil, its definitely worth a visit
