“Very Simple but Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

For those who wants to be well located, close to the best attractions, Ecopousada Miriti is a very good choice. The staff is friendly, services are average, rates are ok, breakfast is good because it includes local delicacies and the hotel is clean. The furniture, TV, decor, bathroom facilities are very old and standard. There´s no AC in the hotel communal area, what makes you stay in your room the whole time.

We stayed at Pousada Miriti last October and had a very pleasant experience. Miriti has a simple ambience, but is located in downtown, very close to major tourist attractions of Belem. Moreover the staff is very helpful, what makes all the difference when one needs hints of the city, calling a reliable taxi service. Breakfast is a plus, specially considering the homemade cakes, juices, as well as a local food called "tapioca" which is offered and prepared according our choice. The pousada also offers free wifi and parking, besides good room rates. All considered, if you do not care for leisure and luxury facillities, we recommend a stay in Miriti.

We enjoyed a nice weekend in this pousada.

The place is in downtown, just 3 blocks from Praça da República. Definitely not a place to walk around late at night (take a cab if you get back late) but a very good spot to explore the city during the day -- no more than 2km away from the main attractions in the city.

Room was nice, with A/C, fridge and TV with many channels. Only bad point is the bed sheets (double bed) without elastic: it was a mess in the morning.

Bathroom: Enough space, hygienic shower, curtains (no glass), soap is provided but no shampoo.

Staff was VERY nice, helpful, smiley all the time. Reception is really 24hours -- we arrived there by 3am!

Do not miss the home made tapioca in the breakfast -- order the one you like!

Room Tip: I'd suggest the rooms at the 2nd floor as they seem to be quieter in the morning.

Lovely people, lovely pousada, great service.
Good location and breakfast. The rooms are small but there is enough space in the garden to sit and recover from the walks in the nearby center, attractions and shopping mall. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are well maintained.
Public transport is nearby, to visit all the attraction outside the center.

Room Tip: Go for the building outside.

We spent 2 nights at Ecopousada Miriti. Staff was very helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Location was good, it was no problem to walk to the docas or the market. There is a small, authentic place just five minutes away were we ate delicious Tacaca. It was a recommendation from the staff.
We were leaving late at night, so we did not book an extra night, even though it was no problem to leave our luggage at the pousada and have a shower right before leaving.

Wonderful green feeling like anything that is Amazon related should have. Spaceful rooms, rocket fuel power showers and a lovely surprise at breakfast, the sweet Nice makes (and even teaches how to make it) the yummiest tapioca pancakes i´ve ever tasted, the ones filled with homemade cupuaçu jelly are alone worth the trip.
Exotic food is Belém best kept secret, stretching from the food stand Carioca in Ver-o-Peso (apparentely the biggest open air market in the world) to the magical spell of anti aging power berry Açai.
xx

Belem is a wonderful city, full with contrasts between the rich and the poor people. This is true for every part of Brazil, but in the north this is a lot more evident.

Anyway the Ecopousada Miriti is located in the very center, behind the Hilton and the Banco da Amazonas huge tower, and near to the Belem Patio shopping center.

The room was very comfortable, with a huge king size bed, and a good bathroom. Please keep in mind that Belem is the gate to Amazonia, and the pousada has a lovely garden inside, so it's usual to find ants, spiders and little insects in the room. It's like going in a country house, but here's much more rain.

The neighborhood is more secure than it seems, but it's better if you avoid to walk around after dark, the pousada closes at 10pm, so guests are required to call if they are late.
Anyway if you're visiting Belem or the zone around the Para capital, it's a good place, located near the main street where you can take a bus to near every destination.

The breakfast is very rich, with homemade cakes (bolos), fruit, juices and toasts.
There's also a very reliable free wifi connection, and it's hard to find that in small pousadas.
