What an outstanding hotel! Welcome and check-in were extremely cordial. The view from the glass elevators at the top of the atrium is just stunning.

The room was totally clean, very comfortable, and it exuded high quality throughout. Breakfast is also included in the room rate.

For an unforgettable dinner, eat at Fogo de Chao, which is across the street from the front entrance. While vegetarians should look elsewhere, there is plenty of perfectly prepared meat here, and the waiters will keep it coming until you put out the red card. I haven't had a restaurant meal that good in a long time!

“An underrated hotel”

I spent 4 nights at the Melia Brasilia, in spite of the somewhat negative reviews I read here. I found the hotel to be very well-run, with excellent services and good catering. They are making some very interesting efforts to be a "world-minded" -- ask for a room on the 5th floor, the "green" floor; everything is recycled or recyclable, and even the sheets on the beds are renewable and recyclable. The buffet breakfast, included with the room, is huge, and there is an outside balcony for eating if the weather is not too cool or too warm. The restaurant also does a very nice dinner. Many of the rooms are non-smoking; my only problem at all with this property was the lobby bar -- it's a cigar-bar, so there is no place for a non-smoker to sit and have a drink without breathing cigar smoke or smelling like a cigar.

“Never Again”

Melia Brasil 21

After staying at Sao Paulo's Gran Melia Mofarrej, Melia Brasilia does not compare! Service, attention to detail and friendly associates are what you find in Sao Paulo, but not so much at Melia Brasilia. How can hotels from one chain differ to this extreme? I couldn't get an iron and ironing board, my phone was broken, and the power kept going out in my room due to faulty outlets. I have to say I was truly disappointed.

“Big business hotel without much charme”

Melia Brasil 21

Mar 6, 2007

I had a mixed impression of the hotel. The rooms are nice and big, American size. The breakfast buffet is good, too. Otherwise, there are a few minuses such as a ridiculously little pool and the rather drab location. About the latter there is probably little you can do as hotels in Brasilia are confined to the designated "hotel sectors".

“good quality hotel but souless”

Melia Brasil 21

Jan 3, 2007

The Tryp/Melia Brasilia was a very good hotel. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. The sitting, bedroom and bathroom were very large. The hotel was modern and undergoing some samll scale changes as it had just changed hands. We asked for the Tryp hotel but the taxi drivers all knew it as the Melia chain. Could not fault the rooms there were large, clean, well furnished and it felt like a luxury hotel. The view were great over the TV tower. The rest of the hotel was souless, reception, resturant, coridoors were off white polished stone. The room had an electronic safe for no extra charge and expansive bar with kitchnet. The only downside was the location. Great for business but there were no resturant or cafes nearby. So snacks were taken at the nearby bus station or in the hotel resturant wihc had a very cheap buffet in the evening.

Good points.
Room - great size, good layout and well furnised. It felt classy.
Staff - English spoken with ease and very helpful
Electronic safe at no charge.
Good hotel chain ( we used three of their hotels).
Gym
Cheap evening buffet (not drink though)

General
Location good or bad depending why you are in town.

Bad
Souless business hotel
Tiny round pool
Expensive bar items

Reccomendation.
I would use this hotel again at any time fro buiness. If it were a special socail occasion I would either use the hotel then travel about town for resturant in a taxi. Overall excellant for price
