“Retro style heaven!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

This hotel is heaven for anyone who appreciates style in architecture and decor. The 1960s design of Oscar Nemeyer has been perfectly restored to its elegant modernist vision. The location by the lake is cool and a respite from the dry Brasilia winter, and the building design channels the breeze... we didnt need to use the air conditioner. The beds are superb, the breakfast offers a wide range of fresh fruit, pastries, Brasilian specialties, the restaurant is first class, and the staff are friendly. The location is a little out of town by the lake. If you have a car this is the best place to stay in Brasilia. Even if you don't have a car (we didn't) its still only 10 minutes in a taxi to the centre, and its a far better atmosphere than the main hotel sectors. We also did the city tour offered by the hotel which was excellent.

We chose this hotel because it was designed by Oscar Niemeyer -- and, of course, because the deal was good. The hotel is a bit far from the city center, but you may not go to Brasilia without a car unless you want to spend a lot of money on taxis or a lot of time (waiting) on buses. It is very quiet, large and very comfortable. The negative side is that they rented an area for a saturday wedding and the party went on (and loud) a bit later than 10pm. Other than that, I'd definetly get back to this hotel (if we manage to have a good deal as we did!).

It`s a fair hotel. Not too good, not bad...
Breakfast at Oscar restaurant is fine, nothing AWESOME, but with good products.
Room is large and so is the bathroom, both looks really clean.
Internet connection is free if you have patience to use a 200Kbps, to have a 2Mbps connection you have to pay U$10,00 for 24hs.
For an average rate of U$100,00 and due to the location nearby where I had to go, it was a good option.
There is absolutely NOTHING nearby the hotel, so, either you order food in the room or a cab to go somewhere. I ordered a sandwich that was acceptable.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with Lake View. It`s better.

The great virtue of this hotel is its architecture and design, which is obvious to everybody. This is Brasília modernism at its best. A second argument is its location by the lake. The area is beautiful and dead safe (the presidential palace is just down the street). I have done a lot of jogging on the roads surrounding the hotel. True enough, the hotel does not have very upscale amenities; only one restaurant, no exercise room etc. However, this is more than compensated for by its location and design. I have stayed in many of the more "central" hotels in Brasília. They are located in the dreary "hotel sectors" with little opportunity to walk around and to relax. This hotel provides you with more such opportunities at a good price.

My husband and I stayed at Brasilia palace for 2 nights during Easter holiday. First building to be concluded in Brasilia, it was closed in the late 70’s after a fire and restored and reopened in 2007. Located near the Presidential residence, the hotel is comfortable, quiet and has a nice view of Paranoa Lake. But the most interesting aspect of staying there is definitely Niemeyer’s breathtaking architecture.
I agree with other reviews that say that the hotel is far from everything, but given that we rented a car (advisable, when visiting Brasilia) the distance did not bother us. For us, the only negative point was restaurant/pool services, which are very limited. Brasilia is a very warm and dry city, so the hotel could better explore its pleasant poolside restaurant service.

Nice room, everything from then is down hill. No bar, no coffee lounge, maid cleans the room according to her mood, if you want to sit by the pool and relax with a cold beer go to the Golden Tulip across the lawn .

Internet doesn`t work properly, clean towels would be good. I think you have the gist of this now.
