I went to Basil Cafe with a business group to network this noon. I had seen the sign go up on the outside of the building a year ago, but nothing about the outside would have led me to ever venture inside.... Well, inside is a fabulous interior, all redone, and beautiful. The owner talked to our group as he had opened on Monday especially for our group of business lunch customers... I understand why they are closed normally Sun-Tuesday, BUT he might want to rethink a couple of things 1. Find a way to make the outside facade more appealing. 2. The name "Cafe" is misleading, this is definitely a full-scale fine dining restaurant and the name should reflect that. 3. The owner stated they don't do any advertising... They may not stay in business too long relying on word of mouth only. 4. Yes, being closed 3 full days out of 7 in the restaurant business IS unheard of, they should perhaps consider opening Tuesday evening for dinner only??! I am not trying to sound negative about this restaurant, because the Mixed Vegetables in Peanut Sauce with Chicken, spice level 3 out of 4, was probably the BEST dish I have ever had like that... the spice was wonderful, very strong, but not painfully so, and didn't overpower the dish. Everyone that was there (15 or so??) was very pleased with their food choice, whether they were looking for spice or just a good Pad Thai.... I hope that this restaurant makes it, I will certainly be back and would definitely recommend it to others!!
