We dined here on 7/13/13. using a Groupon which had been given to us as a gift. We had made reservations, but quickly found out there had been no need for them, as only a few tables were occupied. Water was poured, and about five minutes later, our server, Mark, came to our table. We ordered drinks, but Mark recommended a drink special made with the spirit I was ordering. I did order that and my husband ordered a different cocktail. We placed our order when we ordered our drinks, ordering two soups and our entrees. Nearly 15 minutes later, our drinks arrived. Mark apologized for the delay, stating that the drink special takes time to make. He left the area before I had a chance to try the cocktail, which I did not like. My husband offered to switch cocktails with me, which worked more for me than him! About five minutes later, our soup arrived. It was very tasty and well seasoned. It was, unfortunately, the only highlight of the meal. LONG after we finished our soup, bread and an oil/balsamic dipping sauce were delivered to the table. I did not care for it but my husband, who was REALLY hungry, did enjoy it. We waited....and waited...not even seeing our server. Finally, a different server (we were told later her name was Crystal) placed our entrees in front of us. I felt it immediately and, while the plate was warm, the food was not. My husband noted the same thing, and we asked if we could please have them heated a bit. Crystal seemed disconcerted with this request, taking the plates and muttering "they just came out!" as she walked away. Some 15 minutes later, with no one checking on us, we decided we would leave. Mark was walking by, and we told him we wished to have the meals boxed. 15 seconds later, Crystal came out of the kitchen with our entrees and said "you want this BOXED?" We said, yes, please. She then scraped the plates into foil pie pans in the same manner as one scrapes plates into the trash. Each foil dish was then tossed on each of our places and she said, in what seemed to be a most insincere manner, "you two have a good night." as she stomped away. Mark approached our table with the bill, and we told him what had transpired through the evening. We told him we would never return to this restaurant, to which he said he was sorry. The bill was $62 and gave him the $60 Groupon and a ten dollar bill. We left, and on the way out, a staff member upstaris asked if we had enjoyed our meal. My husband said "no, it was pretty cra**y." (I edited the word myself.)
We were much later meeting our friends than we had intended to be, so we did not try the boxed dinners until the next day. My husband's stuffed pork chop was so salty as to be inedible. His peas and scapes were tasty. My "chicken marsala" had no discernible marsala wine in the sauce. It did, however, have so much pepper and a wild herb assortment, that it was inedible as well. Unfortunately, my scapes were burnt, but....the peas were good.
Obviously, this was a really disappointing experience from both a quality of service as well as a quality of product viewpoint.
