Don't mind the outside appearance of this Bistro or its chain store neighbors. This is a locally owned and very well-run restaurant. Indeed, the fact that dining in Appleton is fairly grim definitely elevates one's perception of food quality and atmosphere at Carmella's. However, this little gem holds a well-deserved designation as Appleton's darling.
Pasta is cooked perfectly al dente. Cream sauces are easy to foil; Carmella's have dynamic flavors and are well balanced between lightness and cream. Fresh, high quality ingredients are the basis of all dishes - this is the key. Plan to wait for a table.
