“Don´t stay at this hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

This hotel is located in an isolated part of the city(despite to be so close to the downtown) and don´t go by walking near the hotel,or you can be stolen or assaulted.Fortunately,the hotel staff warned us before.You depend of taxi cab or car for your movement.The room has not safety deposit box,despite to be at the hotel advertisement in the web,and It was not provided,not even after two requesting to the hotel reception,a full missing of respect to the guest.The room lightning is very poor too,missing a luminary and buttons to turn on/off the lights at one side of the bed (I must say "weak lights",including that one of the bathroom and becoming almost impossible you read anything at the night).When I woke up in the middle of the night,I was obligged to walk in the full darkness! The room reserved to our friend couple, that was travelling together with us,does not ready at the time of check in (this is incredible,the hotel recepcionist asked them for waiting about one hour to receive the room,situation solved when my friend asked to talk with the hotel manager).The room furniture was incomplete.I concluded that this hotel is in the amateur hands.A friendly advise to another travellers: miss this hotel .

Room Tip: It is impossible to help any traveler to choose any room at this hotel.

This is very good hotel, the food is very good, the rooms are big, and the best is that you can choose if you want the front of the garden or facing the sea, at night the hotel is very beautiful and very bright, the garden is beautiful and very well decorated and even has a space that you can lie in a hammock overlooking the sea.

We sailed to Fortaleza and were in the 'marina' (heaving metal docks) in front of this hotel. We decided to stay a few nights in the hotel for a break. The rooms were very basic and the air-con was the loudest I have ever experience in a hotel room. The breakfast buffet was quite disappointing. The pool is really lovely but they should upgrade the chairs and tables at the pool bar as they were just cheap plastic. The hotel is miles from the nice beaches - so location is poor as well. Not recommended!

Do *not* stay at this hotel. It is located in an isolated area right in front of a favela (slum). The first day we stayed at this hotel we saw a bunch of police and TV crews about 100 meters down the road from the hotel, out taxi driver told us someone was assaulted there. We were constantly warned by the hotel staff not to go out on our own, to even take a taxi if we wanted to visit the mercado central or the cathedral (both of which are a short walk away). Naturally, the taxi drivers don't *want* to take anyone a short distance, so they charge an fixed price (which is illegal) way above the meter rate. Fantastic!

The rooms in the hotel are all on the second floor and above. On the first floor is where you find the restaurants and conference rooms. One night the conference room below our room (we were on the second floor) was booked for a wedding. The music was so loud we had to (after a few hours of arguing with the manager) be moved to a room in a higher floor. Geesh!

The A/C in our room did not have a thermostat, and was incredibly powerful. So, during the night someone had to turn the AC on or off, depending on whether we were frozen solid or sweating hot. Terrific!

The cleaning staff left the windows open every day (even though we asked them not to), so when we returned from our activities, the room was full of mosquitos. We had to sleep covered in insect repellent.

Do not let this review keep you away from Fortaleza, a fantastic city where we had a lot of fun, especially on the out-of-town beach trips. Stay somewhere on "Beira-mar" avenue, it is the center of activity of the city at night, and is very close to the nice Praia do Futuro.

Room Tip: Insist on a room on the 3rd floor or above to avoid the conference room noise problem I mention in m...

Marina Park is way too far from being a 5 star hotel.
I think in the past could be a very good hotel but it seems that nothing was renewed or changed along the years.
The value for this hotel is the one of the worst when you compare similar prices in the north-east region of Brazil.

About the bedroom:
- They have plenty of space;
- The bed is nice and big;
- The air conditioning is noisy;
- The bathroom has mold on the walls;

About the service:
- Breakfast area is too small for hotel size;
- The butlers are not helpful;
- People in the front desk are sometimes kind sometimes not;
- We asked for new towels and they did not deliver nor told us what happened;

About the infrastructure:
- The hotel is located in a bad place near a favela - not secure to go for a walk;
(would recommend to stay in Beira Mar Avenue)
- The walk/run path inside the hotel is incomplete - the track and distance marks;
- There is no security when you arrive at the parking lot entrance in the doevening - even with a guy in the front you just sign with your hand and the entrance is allowed;
- The pool area is nice;
- The soccer field is nice for kids;

For me, this is a 2-3 star hotel that you should stay only if you don't have any other choice.
The hotel could be restructured.

Room Tip: If you're gonna stay at this hotel ask for an ocean view room.

Marina Park Hotel is without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! It is really horrible!!! The staff is rude beyond comprehension and the food is so bad it is disgusting. The rooms are extremely worn and the AC very noisy, which does not matter that much since there is piercing music playing right outside all night. The beds are wobbly (!) and the sheets so worn thin that the mattress shows through. There is just something wrong with this place, something very wrong indeed! It was the most Kafka-like experience I have ever had. The super long and bleak corridors are reminiscent of old Soviet institutions. I kept thinking that somebody would jump out and tell me that I was on Candid Camera and we would have a good laugh about all the horrendousness of this place, but no such luck. The only positive thing I have to say about Marina Park Hotel is that it provided me with a lot of horror stories to entertain my friends with

Room Tip: If you want a good room than stay as far away as possible from this hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for a weekend. The service was good and room was nice. The hotel is far from Av. Beira Mar. But, it´s a good hotel to relax in the pool with a beautiful view.
