“Best resort in Brazil”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Ok - maybe you can disagree with me, there are many others with a better room (it is old fashioned and very simple rooms, but with air conditioning, LCD tv set, and a space for a sofá bed), other inconvinient is the distance from Fortaleza (about 10 miles), but that´s it. You will have a wonderfull beach in front of the hotel (no need to cross a street !!!) and the best thing - a nice water park - with many attraction for the hole Family - even if you feel that this is for children - here you will find the tallest slider on Earth (kind of 12 stores). The weather is fantastic all over the year - it´s just 200 miles from the equator line - and the hotel itself is very nice, with lots of things to do for adults and (mainly) kids.
But if you are an RCI member (vacation club) - perfect - this hotel is part of the RCI group also. So you can spend an entire week with a very low cost - and with the waterpark included !!! (by the way, the park is amazing, but is pricy !!!).
Usually the coffe break is included in the price, but all other meals is apart - my oppinion - rent a car, and go have some lunch outside also - there are amazing restaurants in a short distance - as well as in Fortaleza (about 40 / 50min. from the Hotel by car).

Room Tip: As for the rooms near the pool, with a ocean view !!!

I'd rate this at 3.5 - it's slightly better than average but certainly not "very good".

The good things:

It's right next to the beach park water-park, which is probably the only reason to stay there. A 5 minute walk either through a path or along the beach puts you straight into the water park.
The beach directly in front of the hotel is lovely and fairly empty since most people are in the water park. There are some dangerous currents though and were were advised by the lifeguards to not allow our children to go in further than a few metres. It stays light late enough to be on the beach until evening and after the tide goes out there's a wonderfully flat part of the sand forming little pools which delighted all the children. The hotel has a few sun loungers on the beach (not enough) but there is no service on the beach.

The food was excellent - this was a real surprise. Breakfast was complete with hot food, cereals, plenty of super tasty fresh fruit and a light buffet area. Dinner was a great variety that changed almost every evening.

Staff were friendly.

We went out on a buggy tour booked through the hotel and this was great, I totally recommend it.

The hotel was generally clean except for the aged noisy AC in our room which was absolutely filthy (photo attached).

The bad things:

The hotel is looking very old and in need of some maintenance.

We had a pool-facing room which seemed nice until we discovered that there are noisy parties around the pool until late at night. Thankfully the air conditioning was old and noisy and partially drowned out the shouting and music.

The dining area is incredibly noisy, at times it was difficult to hold a conversation. Too many hard furnishings and a low ceiling did nothing to absorb the chatter and tables were very close together. There was an overflow room which was quieter and although further from the buffet this became our preferred option.

There is insufficient capacity in the dining room for all guests. At peak times (7pm) we had to wait for a table - the longest wait being 40 minutes! We eventually learned to time the visits to the restaurant for either before 6.30 or after 8, at which times there was no wait.

Drinks for the pool are obtained at a single bar of 2 staff and at times there were lengthy queues to be served. A long wait after finally ordering was common due to order backlog.

Internet is charged so I decided to not use it, but at check-out I saw that I had been charged for use every day, which I contested and was refunded. Take this as a warning to check your check-out charges!

Not directly to do with the hotel, but lunch at the beach park was awful junk food. On the beach there were some restaurants with a reasonable selection but expensive - R$120 (almost US $60) for a 18 breaded shrimp.

The bad stuff: The hotel is very run down, it is definitely not a 5 star hotel. I would say 4star facilities, 3+ star rooms. The rooms are spacious but poorly decorated. There is no air-conditioning on the lounge area (kids' beds) so you cannot close the door between the 2 areas. Swimming pool entertainment can be very noisy.

The good stuff: However, this is a great place for families and children. The kids' club is fun, the hotel is directly on the beach (my children loved the surf lessons) and it is next door to the Waterpark.
The food is excellent but the restaurant could do with a make over as it looks more like a factory canteen than a 5star resort restaurant...
Staff is super friendly and always willing to help.

Room Tip: Rooms with a pool view are noisy

It was a great idea to spend 4 nights and days with my son there. Hotel was on the sand, with easy access to the waterpark. Accomodations were not exactly luxurious but comfortable. The food - breakfast and dinner included - were great. There were some nice recreation options for my son, but he preferred going to the beach and hanging out in the waterpark.

The rooms were bad. Location of hotel is very isolated. Far from fortaleza. Food variety and quality is very good. Lots of amenities. Service is okay. Beach park water park is ok. Nice beaches. Not over crowded like fortaleza beira mar

Stayed at the Acqua which is the newer hotel and from what we heard better than the first one. Service is good if a bit slow. Lots of smiles and politeness all over as typical of that part of Brazil but if you look strictly as hotel service it is 3 stars standard. Given that you pay over R$1000/day for a combo of room/breakfast/dinner it is quite expensive. More so than Orlando...
Food is very good for a buffet.
But it is great for kids. There are a number of attractions for them and they really enjoy it. Make it three days with one for a drive in a 4WD around the area.
Room as mentioned above is pathetic, 2 star furniture, 2 star bathroom. Very clean though.

Room Tip: go in low season

This hotel charges 450usd for a room with breakfast, dinner and passes to the waterpark, and on top of that they charge extra $6 a day for wi-fii, food and beverage the rest of the day is ridiculusly expensive. When we were there 3 of the 9 moderate and radical attaractions were closed for maintenance. They dont tell you in advance they will be closing attractions. So we asked for a reinbursment. But was useless, they do not understand customer service, they were unresponsive. We payed 5 days and were finished with the park in 2. We wanted to leave early and I wanted to get the 3 nightreinbursment but they just do not reimburse at all. Once you pay, you are in. The food is good, but the dinner area is full of children shouting, loud music, and full of people talking very loudly . Brazilians are loud. Cannot take a nap eaither, the swimingpool has hosts shouting through speakers all day long.

Room Tip: Don't go. Nevertheless if you want to try it, ask for a room far, far away from the pool
