“Elegant hotel in the very heart of the historic district”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Gorgeous, elegant hotel in the heart of Pelorinho. The rooms are spacious, impeccable and extremely well-maintained. The service staff is extremely gracious as well. The restaurant serves excellent food and is not expensive considering the quality of the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance to everything in the historic area. Highly recommended!

We had the most amazing 3 days at this boutique find. We had a suite with a lot of bay windows with the most spectacular sea view. Most notably, the pool and the buffet breakfast was wonderful. There were also cabs outside the hotel which was convenient if you wanted to get anywhere. There are also restaurents in a mile walking radius. Would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation

Room Tip: Sea view suites

Excellent location right at the heart of the old city.
Staff is very nice and helpful.
Beautiful decoration - paid attention to the smallest details. Ask about their theme it's a nice idea. Generous and tasty breakfast and the restaurant is also very good.
The only down side was the quantity of mosquitoes in the restaurant area.
Like all other Brazilian hotels we stayed at its over prices but at least unlike many other places you get a good experience in return.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a balcony

This is a lovely hotel with friendly staff, good food, good location and good wifi. The rooms are charming and spacious and we had one with great views out on to the street. I don't think I could find anything to fault.

Room Tip: Take a regular ferry (45 minutes) across the bay to Itaparica then walk south down the beaches for t...

Very nice place to stay if you are interested in old world charm in Pelourinho. We arrived for a weekend during a festival (which seem to happen A LOT in Salvador) and had a stage right outside our window, but everyone was so good humored and fun that we didn't mind. The rooms were lovely, the breakfast excellent and the bar makes a mean Caipirihnia.

It is in a central location. Not the safest of places we've ever been.

We stayed in Angola. It smelled really bad, a combination or urine and mildew. We notified housekeeping and they managed to fix the smell for one night but it came back the next day.

It was on the second floor and looked out over the square. Never noticed noise apart from an early morning (what sounded like) rubbish collection.

The coffee was really very good and we liked that the breakfast wasn't served buffet style and was also quite good. The patio is a lovely space to have breakfast (wear insect repellent). Had dinner at the hotel one night as well and it was also good.

The safe isn't big enough for a standard size laptop or even a small one.

The hotel's central location on the main square in the Pelourinho historic center of Salvador insures that you won't have to walk any dark side streets no matter how late you happen to stay out. Our second floor room looked out over the square which can get noisy at times. However the noise wasn't an issue as the rooms have European style windows and shutters which close up tightly. What we found most surprising was how beautifully restored this boutique hotel was. No detail was overlooked. Restoration this exquisite and complete is exceptional in Brazil. The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice couch and desk and detached bathroom. The front desk was helpful and answered our daily questions about the area. They referred us to an adjacent travel agency that featured a variety of area tours that pick up right from the hotel lobby. The restaurant and bar are small but also beautifully done. The breakfasts were excellent with a variety of offerings.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are probably quieter but all rooms have European style shutters which keep light a...
