The good:
If you are lucky enough to get a room with a view, you will never want to leave your room. In fact, their swimming pool has a gogeous view as well. Their breakfast is very good and the service is excellent.

The Bad:
My boyfriend and I stayed in the 22nd floor. We were woken up at 2:00AM by VERY loud music, laughter, and talking coming from a room four doors away from ours. We called the reception and reported what was happening. Fifteen minutes later we had to call them AGAIN to find out why the very disturbing noises continued. They explained people were having a party and refused to open the door. They had already called the police and hope to have them there soon to get the people out of the hotel. We were offered a room in the 17th floor to spend the night and were told to come back for our things the next morning. When we stepped out of our room we realized the hall was filled with cigarrete smoke all the way to the elevators. We went down five floors and we could still hear the music in the distance. Thankfully we were able to get some zzz without any other incidents.

The ugly:
The shower has five knobs. Yes, FIVE!. I just can't figure out why . I am used to having two knobs (one for hot water and one for cold), but this hotel's shower had five. I jumped in the shower without thinking much about it. It wasn't until I tried all of them that I realized I was in for trouble. I first tried two knobs but there was no cold water. Then, I tried a thrid knob, but this only cause filthy water to come out of the drain and into the tub. Needless to say, that was VERY DISGUSTING and almost made me throw up !!We had to call the reception to have them come and explain to us how to use the knobs. In the end, only two of the knobs actually worked, which explains the filthy water incident.

“Do not stay at this hotel.”

The worst hotel we have ever stayed at
The front desk staff was very rude when we checked. When we went to the room we heard a terrible noise in the corridor so we asked them to give as a room in another floor and then we realised that the noise appeared when anyone in the floor switched on the air conditioning. By the way, the woman on the front desk was also very unpleasant this time.
We almost didn't sleep dur to the noise of the air conditioning machine in the corridor, we just could sleep when all the air conditioning machines of the rooms in the same floor were switched off.
Everything was dirty: a sofa in the room, the grille of the air conditioning, the table cloth in the restaurant for breaksfast. Breaksfast was also bad. We thougth that it was close to the city center (Pelourinho) but you have to take a taxi to go there.
The swimming pool is very small but I can't say if it was clean because we didn't want to try it.
The room furniture is old-fashioned, to say the truth all the hotel is old-fashioned.
We had made a reservation for two nights but the second one we had to go to another hotel and we couldn't smile until we went out of this hotel.
When we checked out the man of the front desk didn't say even goodbye.
I wouldn't give more than one star to this hotel.
We have stayed in four hotels in Brazil and this was the only one when we had any problem.

In some guidebooks this hotel is listed under "expensive" and better hotels of the city. The hotel turned out to be very average and without any character. It is located in a residential quiet neigborhood on the edge of a cliff with a nice view of the bay from the "ocean view" rooms. It is a highrise with 25 floors. The rooms are basic and in the U.S they would probably get a 2-3 star rating. Each room has two single beds, TV, table with chairs, closet and a kitchen area with a stove. However, the room did not have a fridge nor any cooking utensils or anything for that matter in "the kitchen" cupboards. The room was clean but the bedspread was shabby and dated. The pillow and the pillowcase had the hotel's name written in black permanet marker. The showercurtain rod kept falling down and the maid rang the doorbell at 8 a.m and wanted to make up the room. We had two rooms for a family of four, because each room (including the master suite) could only accommondate two guests. They did not have adjoining rooms. The hotel has two pools and a hot tub. The main pool was dirty with plastic trash floating in the water. The other tiny pool was located by the ocean, where you could take a gondola from the lobby. You can swim in the ocean, which was quite nice. Down by the bay was also a restaurant.
In the morning the hotel offered a plentiful breakfast buffet.
The old town of Pelourinho is a 15 minute $5 cab ride away. Most of the best restaurants and sights in Salvador are in Pelourinho.
