“Authentic and unique with amazing ocean view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2011

This is the sort of place that reminds you that pleasure in life doesn't necessarily come at high price! The Albergue is a nice, clean and decent accomodation for people wanting to stay within budget but also escape the coast hotel concrete jungle! The owner, MIchael, will make your stay a unique and delightful experience, being always ready to help and full of good tips and advices. Its team is helpful and you will be enjoyng a cosy - homey and relaxed athmosphere. Being an hostel it would be unfair to expect a luxury accomodation and service; however what this place will offer you is a taste of real Salvador. Situated along the coast in the Ondina neighbourhood it offers amazing ocean view on a lovely terrace where you will be served breakfast and can have a nap or enjoy a good book swinging on a hammock; the bus stop is only a few meters away and it will take you in less than 30 minutes to both the Pelourino and the shopping malls. I travelled with my partner and spent there a week; I did not want to leave; I felt at home and found the pleasure of discovering a new place and its real people where the tourists become the observed ones and not the other way around. Great experience, I would warmly reccomend it!

I thorougly enjoyed my stay in Michael's Albergue. Whilst the rooms are basic, they are kept clean and the view is just outstanding. Loved to hang hang our on the upstairs veranda lazying away in the hammock and watching the sun set.
Michael, the American-Brasilian host is extremely help- and resourceful. I shall come back to the Albergue and the morro.

Great place. You're about 10 meters from the sea, so can hear that crackling sound of ocean waves crashing against the rocks when you fall asleep and wake up. So if you like this kind of sound, Michael's place is for you. If you hate being near the ocean, stay away! Nearby beach (50M) is clean and not over-run at all. Just a few locals use it, so you have it almost to yourself.

Accomodation is clean and comfortable. while it doesn't have AC, it doesn't get as hot as you think it would, especially at night - with the breeze coming in from the sea. Great to hang out on the veranda overlooking the ocean both for breakfast and at night chatting over a drink.

Very hospitable, friendly, and helpful staff. Dona Lucia and Michael are gracious hosts and will help with whatever you need. We stayed there 3-4 days but it felt like we've known them for years.

Simple, charming place where you can experience local Bahian hospitality. Would highly recommend.

I've found this wonderful place where I've made friends and I've had the best service I could have. I say this because I live in São Paulo and I'm use to have good services.
I will return to Pedra da Sereia.

I stayed here in May for a few days and had a wonderful experience. The Albergue is run by Michael who knows everything there is to know about Bahian culture and 'hotspots' and is extremely helpful. The Albergue itself is clean, reasonably priced with wonderful views of the bay. It is located near to the nightlife but at the same time is in a very peaceful spot. Altogether to be highly recommended.
