A most disappointing stay. Despite having excellent facilities (like a zoo and a wave pool), staff at this hotel seem to struggle with the basics, and seem completely unable to make you feel welcome or anticipate your needs in any way. For example, when we asked for a child's bed to be put in my room , it arrived without sheets, pillows or blankets. We called the front desk to ask for these things. however, it didn't dawn on whoever brought these items that, if more people were in the room, more towels might also be needed.
A few other beefs:
1. Advertising -- we booked, and paid extra for, a suite. What we got was a room. I tried to get what I had booked, to no avail. Apparently, in this hotel a "suite" is a hotel room with a balcony.
2. Costs -- while the cost of my "suite" was high by Brazilian standards, the hotel wanted ridiculous amounts of money for things like internet access ($25 US per day).
3. Security -- I was accosted at the Manaus airport by a rather creepy man selling package tours. I declined to give him my name, but my wife had mentioned to him that we were staying at the Tropical Business. Imagine my surprise when, an hour later, my phone rang in the hotel and it was him. Somehow he had managed to get someone in the hotel to give him my name or room number. I insisted on an immediate room change (which took the hotel about two hours to organize).
Bottom line -- stay away --you have better choices in Manaus.
