“A nice morning walk”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

Firstly, some things need to be cleared up. 1.There are no capivara at this park. The rodents that some people have described here in other reviews are actually agouti - NOT capivara. 2. The park i easy to find if you take a taxi. Do not bother with the bus, as it is almost impossible to get there this way. Too confusing.
The park itself is lovely, and we saw some amazing animals that we either sa in the Amazon from a distance, or missed completely. One of the manatee tanks had a lot of excrement in it though, which seemed pretty gross, so the park should get on top of that. But check out the photos of the sloth! It came down to poop (they only do this once every week) - so we were really lucky. The science centre was interesting and there are a few different trails you can follow around, seeing toucans, and caiman and turtles etc. One thing - make sure you DO NOT use the taxi company based outside the park. They tried to rip us off. Ask the park to call you a taxi before you leave.

“Zoo's can certainly bring out people's emotions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

As Brazil is not really a First World country- especially Manaus which is distinctly Second World- this park is not surprising. It is a huge quiet and cool respite from Manaus's rain and heat. Saw wild capabara's (giant rodents I'm sure I'm misspelling), and saw the Manatee preservation
project (sort of an inhumane wet-storage)... ugh.
but cool nevertheless, to see manatee up close and personal!

Several exhibits closed or abandoned. Nice park for the kids.

“Disgusting Excuse Of A Zoo”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

I've been travelling for 14 months and I can safely say this is one of the most inhumane things I've ever seen. All of the animals were in tiny cages and did not look healthy at all.

I was really looking forward to seeing the giant otter, the water area they had for it was enough for it to jump in before it hit it's end on the other wall it was so small.

This could be an amazing place for people to go to see the animals they missed in the Amazon, instead it's a giant pile of nothing.

“You'll have fun, if you can find it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

Despite trying to get into an actual research centre of some description, we eventually found where the park is and had a fun time looking around it.
Though the selection of animals is small, it was a nice place to spend a little time and some animals (like the Giant Otter) I had never seen before, so that was a nice experience!
I also liked the inclusion of many types of crocodile/caiman, so one had an idea of the diversity of the rainforest surrounding Manaus. For the low entry price, the small selection of animals was worth it to spend a morning or an afternoon, but not an entire day.
